I'm glad you asked the question. It is an excellent site but I've been wondering why my grandmother's birth record is not there either. Everything we have says that she was born in Chicago in 1895 but I haven't been able to find her birth record. I knew she died in 1962 but I was just a little girl & can't remember the month or day. I don't understand why she's not listed at above site. Has anyone else had this problem? Cemetery was nice enough to give me name of the Funeral Home, but they are not very nice & don't want to help me. > > > > Thanks for leads > > > > E. Hello Everyone, Many B,D,M were not recorded before 1906/16(?) - check the FAQ's at www.cookcountygenealogy.com for detailed information. Also, this is still a work in progress - there are still records to be entered and I believe the county is still looking for volunteers. I found my grandmother's birth record on the FamilySearch pilot site, but she was listed as "baby;" apparently not all of those birth records give the child's name! No luck finding my grandfather's, though. Both were born in Chicago, and they were close in age. From what I've found it looks like my grandmother's side of the family was better about vital registration! (I've found much more there on her side than on his side.) I have found relatives on the family search pilot with the name baby or girl or boy and sometimes nothing. However, I knew the year of birth and it did have the right parents names and maiden names. Did you check the familysearch pilot site for birth? It may not be indexed yet. This is where early births can most often be found. http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home Mary Michele wrote: > I'm glad you asked the question.
