    2. Thank you, Ruth. Well, that rules out that this Katherine (Carroll) Shields is not her as the children born later would not have been Shields since George died in 1891. Yes, the George Shields (Sr) who died June 21, 1891 is ours. I have his death record and it says he was born in Lockport, IL and he is buried in the family plot in Wheatland with his name and death date are on the stone. His death record says he is married and his son George (Jr) was born in January 1891, a few months before he died. He death record is listed on FHC site under George J. Shields....but it really is a T middle initial. Very difficult to read cause of death also. It seems this wife/mother and marriage are a mystery. Elaine
