Has anyone had any luck contacting Montrose Cemetery and getting information over the phone? I just called there (it is 10:18 a.m.) there was no one answering the phone and I let it ring and ring. I don't know whether to contact them by mail (will it just sit there uncollected and not read) or go there but then I don't know if anyone will be in the office. Also, I found through FamilySearch collections that just went online and found my "uncle" that was born and died in one day and buried at Montrose Cemetery. It is a Certificate and Record of Death and listed everything I needed to know but I'm curious as to find out what the weight was of the baby. I'm assuming he was born premature. How can I find out his weight. Would there be a Birth Certificate for him or is this Certificate and Record of Death it? Thanks to anyone that can help. Diane
I'm pretty sure this might have been covered a long time ago on this list, but couldn't find the entry. Today I went out to Mt Greenwood cemetery on 111th St to find the location of a grave. Both the death certificate and the death notice that I found in the paper states that the woman was buried in Mt Greenwood cemetery. Unfortunately, the woman in the office could find no listing for the person. She checked the card file, the interment books and checked under various different spellings also to no avail. This burial took place in 1911. The woman's son died in 1919 and his body was sent to Port Jervis NY for burial. I assume it is possible that she could have been shipped back there too, as that is where they originally came from. Any ideas on what other avenues to research to try and find out 1) where the body lies!, 2) if it was moved from Mt Greenwood, where the paperwork might be. I have not had any luck in finding other death records for her husband or other children. I also do not know which cemetery in Port Jervis the son was sent to. This is my grandfather's sister and is some of my early attempts to finally try to work on that branch of the family which is all out of state, so new territory for me.Thanks for any suggestions! Beth
