I did contact someone who was helpful in saying that the baby is in a common area which years ago they gave to babies who died. There is no marker for him just a field. His death certificate listed convulsions and congenital weakness. Thank you everyone.. I just called there (it is 10:18 a.m.) there was no one answering the phone and I let it ring and ring. ? I don't know whether to contact them by mail (will it just sit there uncollected and not read) or go there but then I don't know if anyone will be in the office. ? Also, I found through FamilySearch collections that just went online and found my "uncle" that was born and died in one day and buried at Montrose Cemetery.? It is a Certificate and Record of Death and listed everything I needed to know but I'm curious as to find out what the weight was of the baby.? I'm assuming he was born premature.? How can I find out his weight.? Would there be a Birth Certificate for him or is this Certificate and Record of Death it? ? Thanks to anyone that can help. Infant mortality rates were very high in the late 1800s, early 1900s, especially in cities. I have gone there many times and they have been helpful. If you live far from there I would be glad to get the info for you. I had an Uncle who only lived 4 hrs and have not found a birth certificate on him as of yet. On the death cert. it states as cause of death "tremors". Would a 1917 address 5847 Ardmore Av. (in Chicago) have changed to 5847 Nickerson by 1925? Help please. [email protected]
Nickerson Ave. and Ardmore Ave. both still exist and one did not become the other. Nickerson Ave. is 6900 W from 5800 N to 6150 N. It runs for 3 1/2 blocks. Ardmore Ave. is 5800 N and runs from 934 W to 7828 W. It runs E/W for miles. You can see both streets on Google maps. I am no expert on the northside, just look up the numbers to see that they are different streets. I recommend a great resource entitled "Turner's Expanded Chicagoland Street Guide". You can get it at most bookstores. Anybody know what happened to Anchorage (street? avenue?) that was around in 1950? Did they take the street out, totally, or did they name it something else. This street WAS located at Glenview, IL, at the Naval housing, there. I hope someone knows. Thanks. It's where i lived as a baby. John Dvorak
