    3. Diane Culhane sent a link that shows the location of current Catholic Churches in Chicago. She also commented that it would be nice to have a website that showed the location of Chicago Catholic Churches past and present. Diane, Have you looked at www.chicagoancestors.org ? This is a website created by the Newberry Library to help genealogy researches find information on Chicago. If you enter a current address in the search box and click the SEARCH button, you will receive a list that contains items you can look at around that area on a map of Chicago. One of the items that is on the list reads: Religious Institutions. If you click on the + sign, a drop down menu gives you a choice to look at Lutheran Churches, Catholic Churches and Synagogues near the address you typed. I checked this website and I found a listing and location on the map for St. Louis Church which was founded in 1850 and was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 and never reopened after the fire. So you can find past and present Chicago Catholic Churches at www.chicagoancestors.org . For example, you can type in your ancestor's address and see the nearest churches, or click on a church and see others in the area. Unfortunately, it's just existing parishes, but you could always print out a map and draw in the old parish churches. Someday maybe we'll have an online map that shows all the parishes, past and present. Diane
