Does anyone have the NYT database.I would like to have the obits of my gparents in laws obits. The last time I and a librarian looked for them and found nothing--I still think of this even tho years have gone by. They are Fannie Hoffman who died on January 13, 1921 and Hyman Hoffman who died August 31,1943-both in Manhattan.
Does Chicago have a synagogue database like NY for 1922-1926? My gfather was its president at the time of his death in 1926-I have written to many places but they have none or maybe very little abt the temple and I would like either pictures of Kesher Israel at its Manfield Avenue or articles about my gfather,Max Weintraub, I know that it was small and that it burn down twice-the last time they did not rebuild it Yhat is all that I know..

Hello, Here is a list of names that were in Chicago’s 100 years of Progress 1833 to 1933 Souvenir Guide. This belonged to Joseph Kossuth and it contains notations about house repairs and their costs as well as names and address of many people. In addition, there is a wealth of info about Chicago circa 1933. The first notations are in January 1937 and February 1938 relating to insurance or “old age” payments. Next there are dates and cost for what was spent repairng the house including the years 1947, 1951 and 1952. If any of the names sound familiar please let me know. There are addresses associated with them as well as phone numbers in some cases. I am interested in how some of these people may be related to my grandfather Joseph Kossuth (Kosuth) and his wife Anna. Louis Hurtsinger (?) Richard Sokolowski Most Rev. Andrew G. Hello, I have the Union Book of my father for when he was a machinist journeyman for the central Lodge #50 in Chicago, International Association of Machinists. He was only a machinist for about two years. I was wondering of such an organization keeps initial records, applications, etc. The dates are 6-6-1947 to 1-1-1949. Thank you, Paul researching: Macekonis, Stankevicius, Kossuth/Kosuit/Kosuth, Sarna, Marcinek

Many thanks to both Mary And Carol who were kind enough to answer my request for the obit of my Aunt Emily. Toni H.
I have been searching for a long time for an Alice Priest (b. abt 1878). I think a friend has finally found her in the Ancestry.com files However when she tries to bring up the census page it appears the computer programmer entered page 6 two times (pg. 6 and 7 are the same). If SKS has access to Heritage Quest and would be so kind as to look up the 1910 San Angelo, Tom Green, TX Census and could send me a copy, it supposedly will give me information to help me research further. I think she is living with her mother Nancy Robinette as a widow with her son Daniel in TX during that census. Any help is graciously accepted. Thank you in advance.
My grandfather who lived on 1000 North block of Lorel, just a few blocks west and south of yours, worked for SAWYER Biscuit Company listed as a "Division of United Biscuit Company of America" 1029-49 W. Harrison Street Chicago, Illinois I have an employee identification card from Sawyer. It includes a photograph and it lists his name, address, race, color of eyes, weight, color of hair, height, sex, birthplace and date. Signature of Employee and says: "We hereby certify that the above employee is a Citizen of the United States of American and that his fingerprints have been registered." It is signed by the president but I cannot read the signature. It has no date of employment however, or when it was issued. But my grandfather bought the house on Lorel in 1915 and later I lived in it so I know he was living here during his employment at Sawyer. Because of the close proximity of our relatives. This may be the place. LMHahn former Austinite
Hi List, Season Greetings to one and all. On the 1930 census, I have two aunts living at 2235 Leamington, Chicago. One is employed at a "Biscuit Company", the other at a "Radio Corp." Does anyone have any idea of the full names and/or the locations of these companies? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you. God Bless. Evelyn in AR
HI List, I am trying to find a person, but so far do not have a lot of information to go on. Her name is Joanne McWilliams, she was a foster child in the William and Augusta ERNST family from her age of 4 to 18. This would cover the 1930's and 40's at least. I think she may have been born about 1930-ish. The family lived in Forest Park 1930 Census, but Joanne is not yet with them. The family seemed to always be in Proviso Twp. I do not know what school she would have attended and think that could help. Does anyone know of this woman and if she is out there if I could somehow get in touch with her. I know it is hard as most likely she married. I am trying to get more information on her and will post when I get it, for now I hope someone can help Laurie
