The two main possibilities that come to mind are that she either went to live with Celia or remarried. --pig On 1/14/07 15:20, "Ruth Hyman" <ruth.hyman@verizon.net> wrote: > Cookers, > I have tried in vain to find death information for my great > grandmother, Sarah Scher. Cookers, I have tried in vain to find death information for my great grandmother, Sarah Scher. In 1910 she was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Etta and Sam Bernstein. She was born about 1855, so I would guess that she died between 1910 and 1940, and I doubt she went back to the "old country", because the entire remaining family (minus her husband, who had probably recently died) came to the U.S. with her. I have tried IRAAD online. I have called the cemetery where other family members are buried. I have searched Ancestry for her? I think I also searched the Trib. for an obit. Her other children were Louis, Julius, Anna Neimark (Jacob), Mary Komer (Joseph), Rose Shapin (Milton), and Celia Simon. All lived in Chicago except Celia, who had gone to California about 1923. Any ideas and/or help would be most welcome. Ruth in Rockville Centre, NY

researchers, until I can find more clues I'm wondering about this name ESDALE since my grandfather had the wrong spellings for 3 of the 4 surnames I am now wondering if this might be wrong, too of the 7 siblings only 1 stayed in Indiana, she died in 1914 by 1910, I have found 5 of them in Chicago Heights, Cook Co, IL I suspect Mary WEIN ESDALE was in Cook Co, IL and possibly in Chicago Heights are there any city directories for Chicago Heights online for 1900 to 1910? if I had some other spellings I could try census searches for Cook Co I want to be able to find all of them take care, Debbie
Hi; Don't recall seeing the original on this but a quick check in the 1937 directory gave me the following, hope its useful: Clara Thomen; res. 4726 N. Western; ARDmor-5135 Jno Thomen; res. 2655 W. Ainslie; EDGwtr-3564 Cheers, Masugu
Email or post the names. I have a subscription to Godfrey and will see if the article is available. Susan
If you post the names on the list, someone can search for you. If you have a subscription to Newsbank or godfrey.org, you can also search. Regards, Mary
No, just that there are not a lot of obituaries in the Historical Archives for that time. I have a sensational in-family murder story in my grandfather's family that was headlined in several articles from July, 1922, and it showed there! I have been doing some work on my stepfather's family, and would like to get a copy of an article in the Trib that appeared in September, 1956 -- between the 10th and 12th! My stepfather's mother was murdered by her boarder, and I had a copy at one time (which did not have the date or name of the newspaper) and must have lost it. Can anyone tell me if I could get an article that far back??? How??? Thanks much for your help. Lorraine Moore Born in Chicago now Living in Baton Rouge P.S. Saints play Philadelphia tonight and I will cheer for them - but not if they play the Bears for the NFC Championship. I live and die with my Bears - Bulls - and Cubs!!

Someone mentioned a yearly booklet of the best of these columns. Rumors say that my husband's parents met as a result of both of them submitting their thoughts. Does anyone have any of these booklets or know how I can find the articles. Time Period would be 1926-27. Thank you. Sophie
