    2. When do you think Bert was born? If you do not know, can guess? Like, from birth of his children? Do you have census records on Bert? If we find him in 1930, then you can discount two of these. Sharon On 17 Jan 2007 at 14:52, Linda wrote: I have 4 different dates for Bert Taylor and i don't know which one might be my family. 1. [COOK-CO-IL] What was Prohibition in 1899 Chicago?
    2. Charles Neubert was murdered on December 3, 1899. On the police report one of the questions had to do with whether or not this crime was Related to Prohibition? Does anyone know what that means? The 18th amendment (prohibition of alcohol) wasn't passed until almost 20 years later and I can't imagine that Prohibition Districts during the annexation period would rate their own question on a police questionaire. Any ideas? Thanks, Carol Loar

    1. Re: [COOK-CO-IL] death info for Sarah Scher
    2. Wayne J. Straight
    3. Hi Ruth; On your behalf, I too tried to find Sarah in the IL death records and the Trib obits, with no joy. This is the closest I could come: Illinois Statewide Death Index, 1916-1950 Last Name First Name Middle Name Sex/Race Age Cert # Death_Date County City Date_Filed SHARE SARAH GITEL F/W UNK 6002338 1932-01-25 COOK CHICAGO 32-01-27 I also looked at census records for 1920 and 1930--but the only place that anyone with her name/age showed up was in NYC. Is it likely that she moved to New York after 1910? If not, her absence from the Chicago records after 1910 suggests that she died between 1910 and 1920. If she died before 1915 there's a great likelihood that her death went unrecorded. My understanding is that Chicago didn't require birth and death records until that time. The Trib did yield lots of obits on her family though, perhaps other descendants will have more data on Sarah.
