    3. Albany Park (the neighborhood) is centered around the Lawrence/Kedzie intersection, just west of the Lincoln Square neighborhood where Dorothy lived. I don't recall an Albany Park (green space). The park I mentioned was Welles Park bounded by Western, Sunnyside, Lincoln and Montrose. 2. William Cody
    3. Hi Deena I lived in the area, 2305 Wilson Ave, from 1924 (year of my birth) until 1938. When David mentioned a park on Wilson Ave some distance 'west' of where we lived I remembered a park. It was a lovely park where we had many picnics. Because the park was quite a distance from our home we only visited the park a few times during the summer. It was memorable for me. Of course distance is all relative. We took public transportation. . I don't remember the name of the park but it could well be Albany Park because that would be the area we were talking about. I haven't been there for so many years - maybe someone on the list can answer. I would like to know as well. As I remember, Albany Park is an 'area' of the city, however, if there is an Albany Park, it could be some place else? I don't know about that but it seems possible. I thought that the Albany Park Area of the northside of the city was northeast of the Wilson Ave area where we lived. I could be wrong. dorothy

    3. I have a question for the list...While going through some old photo albums of my family, my daughter (20) asked me a question that had me stumped because I never really gave any thought to it. She asked, "Mom, what am I supose to do with all these albums after you and dad die? None of us know who these people are, but you, so should I just toss them?" I really didn't know how to answer it. What a shame to toss all those pictures. There really isn't any family left either and those that are wouldn't want them. Any suggestions or thoughts? Martha

    2. Thanks to all who helped so generously with my McGlynn research. It has moved me ahead considerably, and I appreciate the time and effort in my behalf. Could someone tell me the current address for 3026 Broad Street (in 1880) or, perhaps later, Stark St. Is there a bukilding standing at the address at present? Thanks in advance for your continued help. Kathryn Jennings

    2. Learned of this online narrated history from the Limerick list, but considering the number of Irish who emigrated to the regions of other lists of which I'm a member, thought this information resource was worth sharing. If you go to URL _http://www.rte.ie/radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html_ (http://www.rte.ie/radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html) ( _http://www.rte.ie.radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html_ (http://www.rte.ie.radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html) ) you can listen to a series of broadcasts that were re-aired on Irish radio starting December 9, 2006. It is a poignant history composed of narratives provided by locals recounting what they heard from their relatives who lived through the famine period -- an incredibly detailed description of life in those times -- e.g. how they lived, what they ate, how they farmed, etc.. Am sending to Australia Victoria Goldfields and Western District lists, the Cook County and Irish in Chicago lists, the Albany, NY list and the Monaghan list, Please feel free to forward to other lists/contacts who might have interest. 2. In the 1880 census at Chicago, the family of Patrick McGLYNN included an 8th child, Winefred, aged 9 months. Winefred was the first of the children born in Illinois. Unfortunately, I do not have a date on the census to estimate the month of her birth so 1879 is as close as I can come to it. Would some kind person look for the date of the 1880 census, and the address of the family's residence? If possible, could someone also look for a birth registration for Winefred, in the hope that her mother's maiden name is given? Thanks in advance - your time and efforts are appreciated. 3. What great memories I have of that area. Yes. I did mispeak. It was Water School that I attended until third grade then I also went to Queen of Angels where I graduated. The school is on the northwest side of Western and Sunnyside Ave. I lived in the area from 1924 until 1938. I have pictures of myself and family in Wells park when I was a toddler. It is still a lovely park I think. We used to go to Albany Park for picnics. That was great fun! It was a lovely park with a terrific twisting slide. I doubt that we ever ventured further west than that. dorothy
