    1. [COOK-CO-IL] Medical Abbreviation
    2. Listers, I received my mother's death certificate. It says for other medical conditions, amongst other things, ASHD. I checked WebMD. It does not say anything about ASHD. My mother had Coronary Artery Disease, so the thought was for some sort of heart disease, but like I said, WebMD says nothing with words starting with A and S before the H and D being heart disease. Any ideas? Bill Karr in Peoria, IL., USA

    3. Hi, I found this is an old research email. In connection with his paper, Mr. Anderson has also established a job printing office, and book bindery, which ranks high among the best and most extensive in the country. Personally he has always been identified with everything helpful connected with printers and printers' interests. He was treasurer of the "Chicago Typographical Union" for five successive years, and is at the present time president of the "Old Time Printers' Association," for the third successive term; he is also president of the Norwegian Old Settlers' Society. In his religious affiliations he is a Lutheran. A quote from "A Biographical History with Portraits of Prominent Men of the Great West" pg 14 This is about John Anderson publisher of the Scandinavean Newspaper of the late 1800's. Al

    1. [COOK-CO-IL] More on Immigration Mystery
    2. The person I'm trying to learn more about was Bridget Lohan, who arrived on April 24, 1915 on the Lusitania (it departed from Liverpool). She identified her closest relative in Ireland as her father, Mr. Lohan and gave her age as 19. She was single when she immigrated, and I don't know her married name. (Many Bridget Lohans came from Ireland, including my grandmother 20 years earlier.) Someone told my cousin he should be able to get more passenger information somehow, which is why he's hoping to learn her father's first name and her birthdate and figure out which Bridget Lohan this is. 1. [COOK-CO-IL] DOBBS, FENTON, MYERS
    2. I've been trying to locate Susan Lutchen Myers Dobbs for a long time now. She was the daughter of Frank and Mary Lutchen and was born in Illinois about 1861. She was married to John A. Myers who died about 1900 before the census. In 1902 she married Louis Dobbs in St Joseph, Michigan, and I believe had one child with him that did not survive. By 1913 Louis had passed. I assumed she may have remarried but there is no record of it that I can find in Cook County. This is where they actually lived. She had a daughter Anna Myers Fenton who had a daughter Eva about 1905/06 who did not survive. I don't think Anna's marriage survived the loss of her child. I know Susan had other Myers/Meyers children but haven't been able to trace them thru the censuses. There are so many Myers/Meyers/Meyer individuals listed. Too many to track when I have no good information to go on. Susan's husband John was one of three Meyers brothers, John, Peter, and Michael. There were two sisters Gertrude and Lena. I think Lena may have married a Wagner/Wagoner. If anyone has any information on these families, I would appreciate hearing from you. The Meyers families were all living on the southeast side or else in the vicinity of 63rd and Halsted. Basically, I am looking for any Meyers/Myers/Meyer descendants.....if any of this sounds familiar to you.... Thanking you in advance, Patti Meyers Westmont, IL

    3. In checking all my relatives in the Ellis Island database, any relative coming to the states to visit their father (or whomever) always included the 'first' and last name. It may that I was just lucky. But it might be worth rechecking the EI database just to make sure the first name was not there. Depending on when she came to the states (I don't know when the Lusitania was sank), you may check census records to see if they can be found there. In census info, if you can find them, you would get first and last names as well as ages (from which you can compute an estimated birth date). Hope that helps. From the Ellis Island site he learned that a relative of ours came over on the Lusitania (two weeks before the Germans sank it!) and on arrival gave her village, her father's surname, and her age. Since the surname is very common in that village, he needs to know her father's first name or her exact date of birth to figure out which branch of the family she came from. Is it likely she gave more information that's simply not posted on the site, and if so, where might he find it? Thanks for any help! 1. Re: [COOK-CO-IL] Where were you January 26, 1967?
    2. Our four kids were young, between 5 and 10. I did some shoveling and played outside with them. We made an igloo or something and a snowman, but it was sort of fun. I showed my kids how to bellyflop on their sleds -- probably the next day. We were all wet but had fun. My husband didn't get home that night until late. I think the office closed early, but it was a long trip for him. We lived in Chicago Heights at the time, and he rode the train and then had to clean off the car and drive a couple of miles home from the train station. Our street was not cleared, and he put the kids on the sled and walked to the grocery store the next day. The snow was over the top of our chain link fence. We had a dog at the time which was part chihuahua, and he ran on top of the snow and over the fence. Our neighbor behind us was able to get him and hang on to him until we could come over to get him. I'm sure we went through a lot of hot chocolate!
