I would like to contact descendents of Frank J. Oakes. A friend has an "Heirloom Portrait Painting" done in the city of Chicago in 1935 from a photograph taken in 1927 (this info from a mediallion on the back of the frame). The friend purchased the frame but would like to see the portrait go to a relative. Please contact me at JoanOeck@msn.com.
Am sending you the information from the Chicago Tribune. I need to find a Chicago marriage record that probably occurred between 1903 and 1905. All I want is the wife's maiden name so an index should be all I need. Are there any online resources avaible for this time period? I tried IRAD and ancestry, no luck. If I could request a lookup, Ferdinand Haus and Karoline <unknown>. Bonnie, Godfrey Library does have the Chicago Trib Historical Newspapers. I acess it frequently via Godfrey. Look under "newspapers/journals". Expand the folder & you should see it listed. In order to access it though you must 1st open fully "NewsBank US & World Newspapers (1,400 + titles)" then close it out & open up "IL Chicago Tribune Historical Archives" & search away. The Chicago & othe papers other than Historical Trib are located in Godfrey under "NewspaperARCHIVE.com (Heritage Microfilm)" Happy Hunting, Kathy -----Original Message----- From: cook-co-il-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:cook-co-il-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Bonnie Sent: Friday, February 16, 2007 9:03 AM To: cook-co-il@rootsweb.com Subject: [COOK-CO-IL] where to access obits? Hi all, I have seen that quite a few obit's are found on this list. A good friend and fellow researcher from Norway asked me if I could help with some information from Chicago. I will clip part of Viggo's email below. Thanks for any help and data you can find on this one. Al Askevold ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hi Al, With an Illinois-background do you have some contacts in Chicago-area who could locate 1 or 2 obituaries for me? or possibly other info incl. a death certificate ? The 2 people in question are : (1) Paul Georg MADTSEN who died May 22, 1950 in Lake County, IL (Death Certificate: 0020753). In 1930 he resided in Chicago, and later his address was 1450 N. Fairfield Ave, Chicago (= last known address to family in Norway). He had immigrated in 1925, and he had left his wife and little daughter back in Norway. (2) Oscar August MADTSEN (b. Jul 29, 1901) who died in Nov 1985 in Chicago, Cook County, IL 60647 (SS# 345-01-2849) He had married Sep 19, 1925 in Bamble, Telemark to Ida Marie BØHN b.1899 in Modum, Buskerud. Oscar came to America in 1925, also. Thanks a million for your possible assistance in this matter.

Can anyone fine a Muriel Mundy (b: 2/16/1903 in the 1930 Census) I just found her on the SSI dying in FL but issued in IL Thanks much Linda in IL
Hi - I don't know why, but she does not show up in HQ index. But, if you want to see census page on HQ, put in Calvin Clinton, King Co., Washington, and Annie is just above his family on the page. Is it possible they meant King County which is where Seattle, Washington is? Hi In sorting through some old papers this morning I ran across a Search Result from Ancestry It lists Annie Holmer King, Washington estimated birth year 1863 I do not have Ancestry at this time, but when I went to Heritage Quest it doesn't show a Annie Holmer in King, Washington Can someone check for me? Thanks Linda in IL
I didn't find a King, Washington so Lillian is probably correct about it being Seattle, King County, Washington. If that be the case, there is a Annie Holmer listed at 57 years of age with a daughter 'Anna' age 20. Annie was born in Canada, Anna in Nebraska. So do you think that's your Annie?
