I tried it but I got a 7 day free trial and then $19.00 per month. I found a lot of hits but very few hits that pertained to what I was looking for. I cancelled it. I didn't think it was worth any price. Carol Janes Wildflwr35@aol.com wrote: Hi Has anyone ever tried _www.NewspaperArchive.com_ (http://www.NewspaperArchive.com) ? Wow - yes, this IS the family I'm searching.... any other information you might be able to help me with would be WONDERFUL. My grandfather just told me a couple weeks ago that he has always wondered what happened to Anna's husband. He heard that he was killed and Anna decided to pick up and move her family to the US to make a better life for them. He said he has always dreamed of learning more about their life -- since my grandfather is now in his late 80's, I'm really trying to help me discover more. Hi Kim, You have very limited information about this family but perhaps you are lucky. (Margot is not the most common name in Sweden.) Could this be the family? Are the ages correct? I found this information on the Emibas CD, made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. The letters c and k are interchangeable in Sweden, so Christina could be spelled as Kristina, etc. Post 714299 Alfredsdotter Andersson, Anna Christina Widow b. 5/9/1861 in Ytterby, Göteborgs och Bohus län (Bohuslän) Emigrated 2/24/1903 from Annedal 128 A, Göteborgs Haga, Göteborgs och Bohus län (Västergötland) to Amerika Source: Household Examination Roll, p. 6792 Emibas migration file ID: Göteborgs Haga O 1903 018 Post 714300 Andersson, John Albert Unmarried man b. 6/11/1885 in Göteborgs Oskar Fredrik, Göteborgs och Bohus län (Västergötland) Emigrated 2/24/1903 from Annedal 128 A, Göteborgs Haga, Göteborgs och Bohus län (Västergötland) to Amerika Source: Household Examination Roll, p. 6792 Emibas migration file ID: Göteborgs Haga O 1903 019 Un-normalized versions: Parish of birth: Göteborg Oscar Fred. Women usually didn't naturalize by themselves at that time period. If you are lucky and if she naturalized, the records are at the National Archives branch in Chicago, but if she naturalized in a county court, then there isn't a lot of information. http://www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org/Archives_/Archive_Holdings/archive_holdings.htm There are excellent lists and boards for Swedish research, if you are trying to find out more about this family in Sweden, and there is an excellent archive called the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Maybe I should know this but where does one go to look for a declaration of intent/naturalization papers? I'm trying to track down information on Anna K. Anderson and her two daughters Margot and Judith. They came to the US from Sweden in 1903.
I have no connection to this family. Thank you for the Woolley clue. You can check with your public library to see what databases are available or local Family History Library to look for the 1930 Census and immigration records through ancestry.com to. Perhaps an online telephone directory such as whitepages.com and/or a people search followed by a zabasearch for the nieces and nephews of Elizabeth Woolley could help find a contact. http://stevemorse.org/birthday/privateeye.html Illinois Archives for death records: Illinois Statewide Death Index, Pre–1916 http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/deathsrch.html Database of Illinois Death Certificates, 1916–1950 http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/idphdeathsrch.html Death records can be ordered through mollx.com or chicagogenealogy.com Social Security Death Index for more exact dates: http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/ Alexander Watt was b. 07 Jun 1908, d. Hi Barbara; Well my research didn't give me an exact date for Annie's marriage to Fitz Herbert Drage but it did narrow things down to a time between April 1910 and September 1918. I hope some of the following is new and useful to you. Cheers, Masugu P.S. Good Day to all, Just to let you know....I have sent for copies of Marriages....obits as well as Death certificates.........I have never had any problems. Of course I have hired " Molly Kennedy " for some work - she is the best ! Than, I have sent to different counties in Illinois for copies of marriages.... On the death certificates....it gives parents names...where born...where died...and, how they died/cause of death where buried...informants name...in most cases a family member. On the Marriages it shows again - Parents names ( this given by the person themselves - ones getting married )..where each was born....the ministers name....where they married.... I love these because the couple gives yje information and, you can pretty much count on this information. Each County is different in prices. I believe I sent to Moultrie County, Cook County, Macon County and one even went from Cook County , Illinois into Crown Point , Indiana...at that date in time I gather that was the " in place " for marriages ....Alot went there. I hope this information has helped someone out ! The Clerks in each County can and, will help you out...they are great folks. But ...ALWAYA remember everything is always for a price.... Kindly Bea
