I did find that one, but it is Walter with his family and although their kids names are the same, the birth years and locations are wrong. It took me forever to find with dial up too! The address for Leavitt is right there but no family. Hi List, I am having a hard time finding this family in the 1900 census. Here what I know. Theodore J. and Ottilia KRACK lived at 1875 N. Leavitt 1896-1907 (At least) I have Theodore's death 20 Aug 1898. They had the following Children, Bertha b. 30 Apr 1878 Germany- 1 May 1958 Married Charles RATEIKE Unknown that died by 1910 Martha b.1887-1971 Supposedly born in IL Herman Charles b. 1890-1945 Emily b. 1892-1969 (Married Norman RUST) "Matilda Krack" was living with Martha, Herman and Emily in 1910 at 3452 N. Leavitt. Bertha was living at 3514 N. Leavitt at the time of her death. I have searched all different ways on Ancestry to find this family without the father, in 1900. I think my next step would to figure out the ED by the address, but need help in doing that as I know the numbers changed in 1909. Any help with finding Ottilia and her kids would be great. Laurie
Spring Greetings to all, I have been a member of the Cook Co. IL list for quite a few years. I would appreciate any help someone might be able to give in assisting me in locating some obits. I have tried various libraries and have come up empty handed so far. Please feel free to contact me off list if you prefer. Below is the basic info I have on the family we are trying to locate. I am trying to find the obits and death records for a father and a son. Christoph Lehner (possible middle or first name Andreas/ Andrew???) Lehner and his son John Paul (possibly christened Johann Phillipe) Lehner. Christoph was born 1838 in Germany, and John was born 1862 in Milwaukee area. The only thing I know for certain is they both lived and had families in Chicago proper for a while. They both then moved to the Chicago "area" (not sure where). I have his father's (Andreas Lehner) obit from WI that says Christoph (Christopher) Lehner was living in Chicago when he died around 1880s I believe. I don't have an official death date on Christoph but believe it to be 1890. His son, John P. Lehner died Dec 25, 1944. I have a death cert, but I am trying to find an obit and on his wife, if possible. His wife Bertha M. Lowe died in 1934. They lived for a time in Fox Lake, and are both buried in Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst. I have been to their graves. I am trying to find out a few things... all of their middle names? Who the parents are? Where Christoph is buried? And anything else which will help me break down a few other brick walls. LOL Thank you all for your assistance, it is most appreciated. People I have met on this list have become friends and have put me in touch with others who have been able to guide me to pertinent info; so thanks to all of you. I am also the coordinator for our church archives team trying to get things straightened around to help others with their research. Warm regards, Dara Dara A. I wonder if any member of the Cook County List could help me to identify a McDONNELL's bar as detailed below perhaps from a Chicago directory of the period. As I live in Australia it is hard for me to visit libraries in Chicago "In trying to complete my family history about my seven aunts and uncles who went to Chicago in the early 1900's a second cousin I found sent me a small snapshot of a young girl in her communion dress taken outside of a bar in Chicago and on the window was the name "McDONNELL"S BAR & RESTUARANT" My cousin thought it once belonged to one of my uncles but not remember which one. I guess the age of the photo is in the 1940's or thereabouts. After they settled in Chicago all my relatives used the McDonald spelling instead of McDonnell. I would be pleased to hear from any descendants of Irish in Chicago particularly from County Mayo who might have any knowledge of this bar and restaurant and where it was I would be very pleased to hear from them" Many thanks for any help Michael McDonnell
Listers, Thank you very much for all of your condolences. I will pass them on to the family. Bill

You can go on Google and key in the name of the high school and there will be information about Harrison High School. Also you can go to the site listed below and see if they can provide you with the information about students that attended in the 1920s. http://www.cps.k12.il.us/AboutCPS/Departments/student_records/ Naomi in Illinois > Does anyone have historical information on Carter H. Here in Idaho there are four Family History centers close and each one has different holdings so we trade catalogs every once in a while . Right now we are in procell of doing that again as now we must go back to the reading census on film. Hello, Does anyone know of a LDS FHC that has the naturalization index/papers films for Cook Co. on permanent loan? Also, does anyone know if there is a list of films that Wilmette and Naperville keep on permanent loan? Thanks everyone. Mike
I found something last week - on microfilm at the IL State Archives - that helped me learn more details about a mother & her 2 young sons. In the (regular) 1880 federal census - they were enumerated in an Alms House, simply as "paupers". At the Archives, I found microfilms titled "Miscellaneous Schedule of Handicapped, Dependent & Delinquent Inhabitants of Illinois", 10th Federal census, Roll #30-2169. Schedule D of this Miscellaneous census was titled "Pauper and Indigent Inhabitants in Institutions, Poor-Houses or Asylums, or Boarded at Public Expense in Private Houses" - and in THIS census, it not only gives the "residence when at home", but who paid the bills (city, county, State or institution; whether the patient/inmate was able-bodied, "habitually intemperate"; epileptic; convicted of any crime; if disabled, the nature or form of disability; the date of admission; and whether or not any other immediate family members were also in the establishment [i.e., son(s), daughter(s), parent(s), spouse, brother(s), sister(s)] The final columns ask if each person is blind, deaf, dumb, insane or idiotic, and entries in these columns were to be carried on to other Special Schedules. It's fascinating -- and contains information I'd not seen before. molly Molly Kennedy P O Box 5785 Springfield, IL 62705 www.mollx.com Genealogy - Confusing the dead, and annoying the living. _________________________________________________________________ Get a FREE Web site, company branded e-mail and more from Microsoft Office Live! http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/mcrssaub0050001411mrt/direct/01/
If she died in Oak Park, you should call the Oak Park Public Library they have the Oak Park Review on Microfilm, I don't know if they have put together an index of obits, but they have a very good genealogy department there. They also have the old Polk directories that list everyone in the household and where they worked along with ages, so you could see if she was still in the area after 1930 they also have the local Oak Park directories. I hope this helps. Alice Fluegge
Hi Lois; There doesn't appear to be an obit for kenneth. The only thing I found were these two obits mentioning his name.
