    1. [COOK-CO-IL] Death certificates
    2. I was wondering what luck others have had with getting a date of birth using the age at death on death certificates that list by years, months, days old. I do not have the date of birth of my great great grandmother. Using the death certificate I came up with a date of birth and I decided to run the name and date of birth through family search on the LDS website and came up with a birth by the same name in Germany. I am wondering how reliable this date may be and if it truely is my gg grandmother. 3. Hi Judy!! I looked up his name on Ancestry.com and found that he lived in Milwaukee, WI in 1930 with his wife, Cora and son Murel Jr. According to the SSDI, he died in Jan 1964 in Milwaukee, and his wife (who was born in Wisconsin) died in March of 1980. Her last benefit: Oak Park, IL. which seems odd. I didn't find the son in any public records. In any case, he would be 81 years old if living. 3. Hi Lois, I think perhaps a genealogical society might be interested. Perhaps the Chicago Genealogical Society might be interested. The South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society has a large collection (about 11 thousand books)and perhaps might be interested too. Other societies also might like this record. Perhaps you could post on a MacDonald message board or genealogical list. It would really be nice if a descendant had that record. It would be a shame to trash the record, so I'm glad you are trying to find a home for this information. 3. Years ago I requested school records for my grandmother, Myrtle MacDonald and was sent the records for Murel MacDonald, who, by the looks of the classes taken, was a male student. It covers all four years of high school commencing in 1913. The lad took chemistry, physics, 4 years of Latin, mechanical drawing and trig. I hate to toss this in the trash but I have no use for it and it would only confuse anyone looking at my records later. Any suggestions as to what I should do with this? Lois in CA

I lived in Chicago from my birth in 1924 until we moved to Ca. in 1959. I hope to go back to Chicago again in the next couple years. There are so many memories. Dorothy

    3. I found this at a NY children's website below and see if this doesn't bring back memories. I heard a rumor that Mary Harline became a nun. Is there any truth to this? *Super Circus* <http://www.tvparty.com/g2/SUPERCIRCUS.ram>. Super Circus began in 1949 from Chicago on ABC. The blonde assistant was Mary Hartline in a majorette costume, often twirling batons. There were 3 clowns: Cliff Sobier as "Cliffy", Nicky Francis as "Nicky" and 2 people playing "Scampy", Bardy Patton and Sandy Dobritch. In 1955, the show moved to New York where Jerry Colonna (big eyes and huge mustache) took over as Ringmaster with Sandy Wirth as his assistant.

    3. Hi Linda, Harry Volkman was a very popular weatherman in the Chicago area. He used to speak at schools. Our third grade (two teachers; I was one of them.) asked him to come to speak and the principal invited the poor man to have lunch with us at a local restaurant after his talk. (I am quite sure he had other plans but he was kind enough to join us.)I remember people coming up to get his autograph. It was a miracle he got to eat anything at all. He was famous for wearing a boutonniere. (spelling?)All the schools would present one to him and he would show them on television during his forecast. We told the florist who it was for and the florist created a doozy. I think every florist tried to outdo the next one. They became stranger and larger over the years.
