My grandmother's brother was born in Chicago in 1897. The address on the record is "702 W 20th". The family was Irish and devoutly Catholic. Can anyone tell me which parish is likely to have been the one they attended in 1897? I appreciate any help. Jeff

Trevor, I believe that the time frame you are interested in would be under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army. Don't think that the U.S. Air Force came into existence until after WWII. Prior to that I think it was called the Army Air Corps. I could be wrong though. No, you don't have to be an IL resident. Legislators might pay more attention to constituents. You can email vs. paper letters. All help is very much appreciated in this fight against HB 5428. I, too, have been trying without success for many years to get 2 different records. It sounds like the key to getting quick response to requests for coroner's reports is to get the Medical Examiner's office to turn over more recent records to the IRAD. Does anyone know how to make this happen? Does the IRAD have to request them or does the Medical Examiner's office have to initiate the move? I would think the Medical Examiner would be all for it to help reduce their workload. This has been a long, long uphill battle and I finally contacted my state representative and got it within a week.  This was a few years back.   Seems everytime I called there the girl was either helping the coronor (maybe she does autopsies on the side), she was sick, she has to go off site and it is dark and dreary and the boxes are heavy she needs help and on and on so I called my state rep.  It was a miracle had it within a week.   Diane

I don't believe getting one through IRAD is a problem. It's the ones that you have to go through the coroner's office that I have had difficulty with.
