My wife's aunt died today, as such the obit probably won't be out until tomorrow. However, if someone could forward me the obit when it is printed, I would be grateful. Her name is Genevieve Carr - no relation to me of which I am aware. With the variants of Kerr, Carr, and Karr, somewhere many generations back, I could be related to her deceased husband. However, I have found no connection of late. Bill
Hello, This is my report. Michael Goldstein began his life in USA in New York City. I believe he was sewing US Army uniforms during the Civil War there (1861-1865). This is were he met another immigrant , also sewing uniforms, named Abraham Kallen. Abraham married Michael's sister Flora Goldstein in New York City. Both families moved to Chicago, IL prior to 1870 and settled permanently there. Both Michael Goldstein and his sister Flora Kallen named their first sons Meyer in honor of their father. Anyone interested in this family? Please contact me. I have alot more info but I wanted to be brief to begin with. Best regards, Lilly Martin Descendants of Meyer Goldstein Generation No. 1 1. Hi Mike, Here is the link to Ellen McShane's death certificate, which you can now download (she is the first one listed): http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#givenName=Ellen&collection=fs%3A1463134&placeId=250&searchType=close&surname=McShane&alivePlaceLoc1=Cook%2C%20Illinois%2C%20United%20States&p=recordResults There are two death certificates for Ellen. The first one is obviously corrected, as the second one listed has her birth date as January 8, 1886. Unfortunately, there is no way to correct these postings on the FamilySearch web site. Hi Elaine: What religion was he? Since you have his birth date, you could locate their address at the time of his birth through the directory. With that you could locate the nearest church to that address and search the baptism records. It takes a little investigating but well worth it if you can find the baptism. You do have to keep in mind though, that they would have attended the nearest church of their nationality. If they were German, most likely would've attended the nearest German church, etc. You may even find their marriage at the same church.
