    3. I just saw this reply too. Part of the confusion is the name of the church, which probably has changed since 1957. The family was German, so perhaps I need to find where to write for records of both the Evangelical Church & the Evangelical Reformed Church in Chicago. Unfortunately, I don't have more exact information. Thanks for the reply & help. 1. [COOK-CO-IL] Zion Evangelical Church
    2. judy petersen
    3. Thank you to Alice Fluegge, Kay B, & Lila Digby for responses to my post. My Goetzelmann-Herzog family was German & lived at 627 S. Canal (1900) & 2637 W. 22nd Place (1910). In 1918, Margarethe (wife) moved to Oak Park after the death of her husband, but she remained a lifetime member of the Chicago church until her death in 1957. I can't get into my hard copy files because of recent back surgery, but here's what I have in my genealogy program about the church. 2 different articles (Margarethe's 100th birthday celebration) in 1956 give 2 different names to the church. One says she's a "lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Reformed Church" (Chicago). The other says she's the "oldest living member of Zion Evangelical Church at Lotus & Van Buren. My earlier post must have given the incorrect name of the street - Lotus, not Loftus. I have heard there are 2 different Evangelical Churches, one Evangelical & the other Evangelical Reformed. That's where my confusion is since I don't know the different churches or Chicago locations. The church was still in existence in 1956, according to the articles. Thanks for any more help with this. 3. Hello Listers, I am looking for a specific Evangelical Church in Chicago: Zion Evangelical Church, Loftus & Van Buren Streets. My gr grandmother was the longest living member of that church in 1957. More specifically, I would like to find the marriage records for that church - my gr grandparents were married in 1886, & I am looking for his village of origin in Silesia, which might (I hope) appear on that church record. They were married by Rev. Klein, first name possibly Peter. I googled the church name but couldn't find anything that seemed to be on those street names. Any idea where I can find the records of that church if it doesn't exist today? Thanks in advance. Judy, Anchorage AK

    1. [COOK-CO-IL] CRAIG STEGMEYER
    2. Lilly Martin
    3. Hello, I don't have access to the directories, but I will offer some advice. #1. Do you think his name will have remained the same? If it is different, that could be hard. However, he might be looking for you also, so keep checking on www.google.com to see if his name comes, perhaps something he wrote to find his family. #2. http://veromi.net This is a great free resource. This uses many databases, and I believe financial data, like loan applications, and etc. I typed in his name with the state of Illinois as the place (you have to put a state) but got nothing. However, you should go state by state and see what comes up on each state. Then check for his age, it is usually given and you can narrow down the search. This website will give possible relatives, like a spouse, children, sometimes parents, if they have co-signed a loan. #3. www.zabasearch.com also free. They use many databases also, loan apps for a home, etc. This will give you addresses and phone numbers. I also will give you 'moves', for example: in 2001 they were at this adddres, and in 2006 they were at this address. #4. www.facebook.com I did see a Craig Stegmaier listed, he was also on a website called newingtonknights. Could he have changed the spelling of his name slightly? I did not check all the above mentioned websites throughly for you. I suggest you do it, you might see something useful. #5. There are also professional websites, like 'linkedin' which is your profile in a business setting, like networking for business contacts, or looking for the next job, that sort of thing. Many people are listed. #6. PeopleSearch is a FEE based search, uses criminal records, finiancial records, many sophistigated databases. If they find him there, you can then pay a small fee to see the complete report. #7. Lastly, I knew a detective many years ago, who found my long lost next door neighbor for me. His business was finding men who have run away from child support payments. He called his business "Dead-Beat-Dad". For a very small fee he found the person I was looking for. You could google him and check it out. By the early 90's, the Riverdale area in Chicago and the suburb of Riverdale were in a serious state of white flight, very transitional. So if Craig is still around, the odds are that he is not still in that area. (If he was still there in 93; more likely the town of Riverdale, not the Riverdale neighborhood of Chicago, but probably not for long, as that was the peak point of white flight working outward from the Riverdale section of Chicago (north of the Little Calumet River), the town of Riverdale, and the town of Dolton.) That said, I went and looked at the telephone directories area of Ancestry and came up with this entry: C C Stegmeyer Oak Lawn Illinois 60453-6006 708-425-2661 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 That looks to be the most probable entry (there is no "Craig" as such) if he stayed in the Chicago area. Whitepages.com finds some Craig Stegmeyers, but they are not in the Chicago area. --pig
