    3. A few days ago I received information on an ancestral grandparents of mine, Thomas Smalling, and that he married Catherine Kelly. It says they were married 4 Dec 1797, in Botetourt Co., VA. and that they were the grandparents of Samuel Benjamin SMALLING, b. 1799 and Elizabeth COOK. "My" Thomas Smalling, who I had no ancestral information on when I submitted my request, had a son Samuel Smalling, b. 1763 in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and he married bet. 1784 and 1790 to a Miss Taylor (first name unknown). This means that this Thomas and Catherine above could not possibly be Samuel Benjamin's grandparents's parents, because of their marriage date and his birth date. This makes me very sad :-( My initial request had been on this Cook list for information on Elizabeth Cook, who married Samuel Benjamin Smalling, son of the Samuel & Ms. Taylor above. When I received a reply back it was not on Cook information, but that Thomas, father of Samuel (who m. Taylor) had m. Catherine Kelly. I was so excited I did not notice the dates at the time. The date of Thomas and Catherine's marriage is the same date as the birth of Samuel Benjamin Smalling, 1797. I'm at such a loss now. Was really hoping to begin this new year with some new names for the empty places in my database. Does anyone out there have any information on this Thomas Smalling and Catherine Kelly's family? There's a possibility that they are indeed connected, but not in the fashion previously suspected. I thank everyone who has given me help on this. I know that by locating information on these Smallings I will most likely locate the information I'm looking for on Elizabeth COOK as well. Thank you all. Linda
