    3. Hi everybody! I certainly feel out of place with all the Cook mail coming in, but maybe if I write we'll hear from a few of the Koch side! I'm researching George Koch, born in Germany, in 1831 and moved to the U. S. in 1882. Family legend says he went first to North Dakota to homestead, but his wife couldn't handle the rough life. George was a carpenter and I can't imagine what he was doing turning farmer. I would like to try to find some evidence of their stay in North Dakota. I believe I need to know what county they were in to request land records. I would assume, that they may have purchased land while still in Germany. The problem is they couldn't have been there long, since their date of entry on his Declaration of Intent is Oct. 1882 and they seem to have arrived in Two Rivers, WI where they finally settled before the year was out. They had relatives in Two Rivers so it seems odd that they wouldn't have gone there first, unless they already had land. It's a needle in the haystack, but does anyone have any suggestions? Land records seem to be the only paper trail that might be left. Thanks for any suggestions! Milli
