    1. Re: [COOK-L] more William Cook information
    2. This seems to be an appropriate time to add my William Cook (my great grandfather) to the current discussion-- and he is my brick wall. About all I know of him has come from family tradition. William James Cook, born in Georgia abt 1810, went to Marion Co Mississippi at an early age. A cousin said he ran away from home in GA at about age 12---went to relatives in Alabama--was sent to other relatives in south MS because of an epidemic in AL. I have found him on 1850,1860 and 1870 Marion Co MS census with his wife, Sarah Temple, both born in GA, and their children, Sarah Ann, Susan, Marion, George S., Salina, Thomas Jefferson, William James, and John Ira. His first wife was Anna Pucket, mar. in Lawrence Co MS in 1825. They had one son, William, Jr., who was listed on the 1850 census, age 21. Does anyone have any information about my William James Cook or any of his children, especially first son, Wm. Cook, Jr. or his descendants? There were several Cooks (Henry, Lewis, etc.) in south MS in the early 1800s, who could have been his relatives. Haven't been able to sort them out. Thanks for any help you can give me. Martha Callaway << >>>>.I had come to the conclusion there was no Cooks in the So... :-) Yes, we're here! I know it can be frustrating, though. I'm still looking for Joshua Cook b. 1805 in GA and m. 1827 in MS or KY (yeah...looking for that, too). >>>...The name Wm. is just not a run of the mill name for so many of the Cook-L members I have two Williams listed, though neither yours (sorry). There is the posibility that the two are one in the same. In case anyone else is looking, I have: 1) WILLIAM A. COOKS PVT- B- POW at Camp Morton, IN 22 Jun 1863 2) WILLIAM COOK b. 1846 in Holmes Co. MS, son of Joshua and Susanna Cook Good luck! Jo-Ann Stephens >>
