    3. >Did you ever wonder how Grandma made her lye soap? YUCK! Did you ever have to USE lye soap? My grandmother and mother made it when I was young (along with lots of other "stuff" that had strange odors coming from it or looked suspiciously "alive"). Those rosey cheeks that you think of on small children of old weren't from healthy living - it was from a good scrub in the tub with lye soap! :-) Concerning my Joshua Cook: I am still in need of information on this ancestor. He was b. 1805 in GA; m. 1827 in MS to Susanna (Unknown). They are listed in the 1850 Census in Holmes Co., MS, along with their eight children. Any cousins out there?
