Before long you will know everyone and feel comfortable. We are a unique group of people. We cry together and we laugh together, as we are truly one big happy family. The best part about us is the way we help each other. If you are new to the Internet, or new to genealogy, please do ask questions. Someone in this group has an answer to help you. We are all eager to see who your Cook's were so when you are ready, do post them. Before we get back full swing into posting a lot I want to talk about the matter of Cook List Courtesy. Some months back we ran into the problem of members complaining about to many posts. This was only because members were taking up space posting a gripe against another member. This problem could have destroyed our list so I typed up a rules list as we called it. But I think calling it a Courtesy List sounds better. I see a lot of you still remember :) This list is going to have to be put into action before we get into the new project I spoke of last Sunday. I feel it's very important we start right now today. We have members who are interested only in certain things and don't want to read every post. I have to think about everyone so this is the only way to do it. I will be sending this to the list often as a reminder in case you lose your copy but I can also send you one if you need it. I had illness in my home and did not get to follow through on this but I can do so now. I'm very sorry about this delay. This is our simple and easy rules or styles of posts that will assist us all in getting what we want out of the COOK list: I can't stress enough the importance of the team work it's going to take to make this system work. Rule or Post #1: COOK: Give Short Description.....Definition: COOK genealogy ONLY. Queries and Charts. For the source documentation, post it if you have it, or you may say that they can contact you. Rule or Post #2: HISTORY: Give Short Description.....Definition: Background history of the COOK surname or COOK general history. For the source documentation, post it if you have it, or you may say that they can contact you. Rule or Post #3:CHAT: Give Short Description.....Acknowledgments, greetings, well-wishes, holiday greetings, etc. for members of the list. Rule or Post #4: ANNOUNCEMENTS: Give Short Description.... Home Pages, Web Sites, and any records you want to post. A typical Subject Line might look like: Subject: COOK: My William COOK Oh>Ky Subject: HISTORY: Francis COOK crossing on the Mayflower Subject: CHAT: Merry Christmas Subject: ANNOUNCEMENTS: Cyndi Howell web site. With these four simple rules or posts each of you can now select which ones that you wish to read and which ones you wish to delete.
