I've been subbed for a couple of weeks, but haven't posted anything as yet. My mother (Betty Cook Rudd)worked on our genealogy in the '40s and '50s. I inherited it when she died 23 years ago, but I've not had the time to work on cleaning things up until now. My uncle, Max Cook (her brother), worked on it in the '70s and '80s after he retired. He wrote to me that my mother had the 1st 3 generations of our immigrant ancestor wrong. I'd like to clarify this. The first ancestor upon whom they agreed is: Jared Cook, b. 4/20/1730, m. Ruth Hutchinson 12/21/1753 My uncle wrote our immigrant ancestor was: Richard Cook of Leicester, England, who came to the colonies on the ship Jonathan, landing in Charleston, in 1639. Uncle Max found a record of property registered to Richard in Preston, CT, in 1683. Richard had a son, Obed (Obediah?), born 2/1/1681 Obed had a son, Richard, b 8/10/1705, m. Mary ??? and they were the parents of Jared who married Ruth...and the rest of my line down to me is intact. Jared and Ruth had a son, Elijah, who married Charity Lockwood. My Lockwood line goes back to Robert Lockwood, who was on the flagship Arbella with John Winthrop (Winthrop's Fleet) in 1630. Anyone on this list have information about Richard, Obed(iah), and Richard Cook? Ellen Rudd in Indianapolis
