    2. >From Helen Cook Austin AustinART@aol.com I wish one of you knew something about COOK families who lived in Natrona, or Tarentum or Pittsburgh, PA from about 1850-1920. I am having a hard time trying to find my ggrandfather who was a George or Charles COOK b GERMANY, possibly Bavaria about 1832. He married in PA about 1860 and d (or left Pgh) after 1875, but before 1900 probably in Allegheny Co, PA. His children were: 1) CHARLES ALEXANDER COOK b 19 Jan 1864 Natrona, Allegheny,PA who m 27 Jun 1888 Tarentum Meth-Epis.Ch to Mary Ellen TRENARY of that city. He died 6 May 1952 in Homewood, Pittsburgh, PA and was bur in Prospect Cem., Tarentum by his wife and son James COOK. 2) CAROLINE "CARRIE" COOK b Dec 1861 PA,. She died aft 1920 in PA. She Married Charles J. Appleby of Tarentum and lived on 9th St. Their son Clarence Appleby was a Slive Merchant, and their daughters were all elementary school teachers at Tarentum Elementary School on 9th St. 3) ANNIE E. COOK b 2 Aug 1870 mar abt 1890 to Edward ROBERTS, This family not found. There may be other children, Albert, George, and Amelia. U.S. Census of 1880 Allegheny Co, PA, Harrison Twp, Natrona, MF Roll 1089, P8, Dwelling 68, Fam 73, Cook, George, W, M, 48, head, married, Carpenter, b Bayern, father and mother b Bayern; wife Barbra 49, b Baden father and mother b Baden; son George 20, laboring, b PA; dau Caroline 18, keeping house, b PA; son CHARLES 16, b 1864 laborer, attended school 8 mo, b PA; dau, Amelia 18, PA; son Albert 12; Elizabeth Kallenbaugh, age 78, grandmother, widowed, b 1802 Baden. I THINK this is the right family. But there is another family in the vicinity that also has a son CHARLES age 16. However the head of household is CHARLES so I do not think this is the family. Also, this family does not have a CARRIE the right age. I know the location is correct. Legend said that my Charles Alexander was raised by a German stepmother after his natural mother died. I do not have any way of knowing if this Barbra Kallenbaugh dau of Elizabeth is the stepmother or natural mother. I would appreciate help from PA, COOK researchers. Thanks
