Recap: Hugh Minton, came from Kentucky to Cape Girardeau County, Mo. His son Alfred Minton, born Cape Girardeau County, md Sarah Cook His son William H. Minton born Cape Girardeau County 1854. 318 WILLIAM H. MINTON, a prosperous farmer of Randol Township, Cape Girardeau County, was born on the farm where he now resides, Oct 18, 1854. He is a son of ALFRED MINTON, also a native of Cape Girardeau County, to which his father HUGH MINTON, had immigrated in an early day from Kentucky. Alfred Minton grew to manhood in his native county, and there married to SARAH COOK (now deceased) also a native of that county. After his marriage, Mr. Minton located in the river bottoms of Randol township, and engaged in farming. He made valuable improvements on his farm and resided there until 1882, when he removed to Cape Girardeau to give his children the advantages of the schools. Mr. Minton has held several local offices in the county. William H. is the eldest of a family of eight children. He remained with his father until he reached his majority. On March 17, 1881 he was united in marriage with Miss MATTIE THOMPSON, daughter of John Thompson (deceased 1888). She was born and reared in Cape Girardeau County. After his marriage Mr. Minton resided on the bottom farm for one year after which he removed to his father's farm. In 1885 he built his present substantial residence, and located where he now resides. One son has been born to them, James Harry. _____ >>
