Looking for the Parents & Siblings of my gg-grandmother, Margaret[te] [Peggy] COOK[E]: b. abt 1808 in Tennessee; d. abt Jul 1855 in Tennessee; m. 4 Apr 1823 Maury Co., TN to Denson MOORE: b. 1801 North Carolina; d. Tennessee [probably], sorry I don't have ANY other info on this COOK[E] Family. Margaret[te] & Denson MOORE moved to Lewis Co., TN where they were in the 1850 Census. They had 9 children from 1829 to October 1849, after Margaret died abt Jul 1855, Denson may have 'LOST HIS MIND' from grief of her death. Denson started getting drunk often and while he was in one of these 'MOODS', he shot & killed one of his sons, Aaron [Robert] MOORE [? by accident ?] & was convicted of Second Degree Murder on 19 Oct 1855 & sentenced to 'The Pen' [in Nashville, TN] on 20 May 1856 for a term of 10 years at hard labor. It's doubtful that Denson could have lived out his 10 year prison term at hard labor & may have died before getting out, he may be buried in the Prison's Cemetery. I wonder if there's OnLine Listings of people buried in different Prisons. I realize I'm grasping at Straws here, but I need some direction to go to find Margaret[te]'s family. SORRY I got off-track but I'm at a standstill, I'm hoping with this OTHER info, someone from Margaret[te]'s family will have some infor about her Parents OR Siblings.
