Della Cook DANVILLE, Va. — Della Powell Cook, 98, of 529 Fourth St., died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Danville Regional Medical Center after ten years of declining health and six days in the hospital. Born Sept. 25, 1903, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Albert Lee Powell and Maude Collins Powell. She was married to Harry Lee Cook, who predeceased her March 1969. She lived in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas and was a member of Whitmell United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Cook, and Barbara Breeden, both of Danville; one son, Herbert T. Cook of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; one sister, Madie P. Gravett of Danville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Elwood Lee Cook; and two brothers, Thomas Powell and Harvey Powell. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the mausoleum at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Freddy Vicks officiating. Interment will follow. The family will be at the residence. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
