Pat, Thanks for responding to my query. I have been researching your Cooks for about 1 year out of desparation in not being able to go back any farther on my line. Your Cooks seemed to be a good fit for mine, but as of yet I have found no link. I have some info on Burnet Cooks line, specifically his son Burnett and wife Thirza, and grandsons DeWitt Cook who became a well respected doctor in Iowa, and Seymour Cook, among others. I believe it goes Nathan>Burnet>Burnett>DeWitt. Anyways, I have been stuck on John Cook for years now. There are hundreds of John Cooks in New York in the early 1800s, and many of them fit.
