My John C. Cook was born in 1861 in Jackson County, North Carolina.. He is the son of Solomen Floyd Cook and Martha Shelton Cook. John married Eva Robina Browning in 1881. They had two children George Wesley Cook and Robert Luther Cook. They resided in Waynesville,(Haywood County) North Carolina. Sometime in the late 1890s John disappeared. One family story says he went to Texas. Another has him changing his name to John Shelton. I have not found any proof to support any of these stories. It is possible that he died. However I have not found records to support that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John D. Cook
