Annie Harris DANVILLE, Va. - Annie Lucille Cook Harris, 79, of 714 Holland Road, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at the residence. Born Oct. 11, 1922, in Danville, she was a daughter of James Archer Cook and Nancy Odom Cook. She was married to Alonzo Harris, who predeceased her. She lived most of her life in Hampton Roads and Danville and was previously employed by Dan River Inc. and Cone Mills in Reidsville, N.C. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, David Harris of Ringgold; one daughter, Beatrice Taylor of Pelham, N.C.; four sisters, Gracie Pugh of Danville, Della Green and Bertha Hudson, both of Hampton Roads, and Madie Scearce of Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, James Elwood Harris; one brother, Dewey Cook; and one sister, Gloria Ann Durham. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Hines officiating. Interment will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, Va. 24541. Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
