    3. Royal Artillery Regiment Memorial To the Right Honorable Lord SIDNEY, one of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State &c &c &c The Memorial of the Officers, Artificers, & Labourers of the Civil Branch of the Ordnance Humbly Sheweth That they conceive a reduction of the Civil Branch of the Ordnance will take place when the Peace Establishment is form'd. That several of the Artificers having Applied to Brigadier General MARTIN Commanding the Royal Artillery to be discharged the service, he gave them Discharges, and are already settled in Nova Scotia. That the memorrialists actuated by other Principles, and holding it as a maxim, that their private intrest, is not to interfere with their public duty, have declin'd making any application for a Settlement as they are conscious that their labours and their Services must be wanted, while the Ordnance and Stores continue to be attach'd to the Service of the Army. That they present this address with no view to an immediate provision, That they mean only to inform His Excellency that a Sett of men who has zealously done their duty thro' the whole course of this War, and many of them thro' the former War, are determined to continue to do it while their services are required, and only wish for an Asylum for themselves and their families, when their personal exertions are no longer necessary. That trusting to His Excellency's unremitting Attention to relieve the distresses and grant protection to those who have faithfully done their duty They humbly pray. That His Excellency would be pleas'd to order that an allotment of Lands may be granted and set apart for them, in Nova Scotia, where they may shelter themselves and their families, when the Service shall no longer have occasion for them and their Labours.
