I am new to this list so please bare with me. Mary COOK born abt 1815 unk married James SPENCER 1833 Greenbrier Co. WV, as his second wife. James had 11 children by first wife Elizabeth Hapenstal and 9 children by Mary. I have not been able in 30 years of searching to find out where Mary came from or what happened to her after the 1850 Nicholas County WV census was taken. One clue is the War of 1812 pension application of James which identifies him as INDIAN. It is hard for me to vision a 1831 MR MOM bottle feeding and careing for a set of twin infants plus 9 more small children and run a frontier farm. I believe Mary Cook could have also been Indian. From census I gather she was 18 years old when she showes up in the Spencer household. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
