Posted FYI: Transcription of Deed: George 3rd, etc., whereas by one patent under the seal of our colony & dominion of VA bearing the date of 25th day of July 1749 there was granted to William Covington one certain tract or parcel of land containing 400 acres lying and being in the county of Lunenburg on both side of Hurricane branch of Meherrin River bounded as follows to wit: beginning at a white oak on the sd branch thence on lines N20 W 164 to a hickory then S80 W114 to a white oak then N77 W200 to a red oak then S75 W100 to a hickory then S10 E162 crossing the north fork of the branch to a pine and then S88 E406 crossing the south fork of the same to the first station. Which sd tract or parcel of land was granted on condition of paying our Quitrents & (illegible) and improving as the sd patent is (illegible). And whereas the sd Wm. Covington has failed to pay such Quitrents and John Cook has made humble suit to our Lt. Gov. and commander in chief of our sd colony and dominion an! d has obtained a grant for the same. Therefore know ye that for divers good causes and considerations more especially for and in consideration of the sum of 40 sh. of good & lawful money for our use pd to our Receiver General of our revenues of this our sd colony and dominion we have given, granted & confirmed and by these presents for us, our heirs and successors do give, grant & confirm unto the sd John Cook and to his heirs and assigns forever all the sd tract of land and every part & parcel thereof with all etc., to have and to hold etc., to be held etc., yielding & paying etc., provided etc., in witness etc., witness our trusty & well-beloved Francis Fauquier, Esqr., our Lt.
