COOK - DOWLING WEDDING DATE SET FOR THANKSGIVING DAY -------- Couple Descended From Early California Families Miss Annabelle COOK today revealed the date of her wedding, when she will become the bride of Stanley DOWLING of Santa Cruz, at a large formal tea at which she and her mother, Mrs. Wristen [Montfort] COOK, were hostesses at the family home on Winchester Drive, Burlingame. News of the wedding date was conveyed to the guests in little parchment scrolls handed to them by Marifran [Mary Frances] COOK, sister of the bride-elect. Attendants Named The marriage ceremony will take place Thanksgiving day in the chapel of the Burlingame Methodist Church with the Rev. John WILKINS reading the service. The bride will be attended by Miss Mabel KERINS and the bestman will be Eldridge CURTIS of Santa Cruz. The ceremony will be followed by a breakfast at the Hotel Benjamin Franklin for the members of the bridal party and the two families, after which the young couple will leave on a honeymoon at Del Monte. The wedding will unite two early California pioneer families. Miss COOK, on her maternal side is a descendant of George STONEMAN, early California governor. Her paternal great grandfather, William Henry WRISTEN, came to California in 1863 and settled near Davis. She is a graduate of Burlingame High School and will complete her senior year at San Jose State College following her marriage. Pioneer Family Mr. DOWLING is the son of Mrs. Frances Ashurst Dowling and Dr. Stanley Dowling of Santa Cruz. He is a grandson of John ASHURST, who came to California in 1850 and settled on El Rancho Vallecitis. His paternal grandfather, William A. DOWLING, was one of the last of the sailing captains to sail around the horn. He attended Moran High School in Santa Cruz and the San Mateo Junior College. He is now employed by a well-known lithographing firm in San Francisco and it is in that city the bridal pair will make their home.
