    1. [COOK-L] Edward COOK and sons, ENG>NJ>NY>TX, 1810's
    2. Good Afternoon Everyone: I'm gradually piecing my COOK family together. I've located my ggg grandfather Benjamin COOK in the 1850 census of Saugerties, Ulster Co., NY: Benjamin COOK, b. abt 1810 England Susan " w/o b. abt 1814 NY Susan A. " d/o b. abt 1832 NY George E. " s/o b. abt 1835 NY James " s/o b. abt 1839 NY Mary E. " d/o b. abt 1841 NY Harvey H. " s/o b. abt 1843 NY Adeline " d/o b. abt 1845 NY William H. " s/o b. abt 1848 NY Ann E. " d/o b. abt 1851 NY By 1860 this family had relocated to Danbury, Fairfield Co., CT. With the help of a few old personal letters postmarked Sealy, Texas, I believe I've found Benjamin's brother and parents. Susan A. COOK had moved to San Felipe, Austin Co., TX sometime in the 1850's to be with the family of her uncle William, and in the 1850 census of San Felipe I found: William COOK, b. abt 1813 England Mariah " b. abt 1800 England Ann " b. abt 1836 NJ Mariah " b. abt 1838 NJ William " b. abt 1838 NJ Eliza " b. abt 1842 NY Norman " b. abt 1845 NY Edward COOK b. abt 1778 England Ann " b. abt 1790 England So, it's possible they immigrated to the U.S. after 1813, lived in the NYC/NJ area for a number of years, and then separated, with Benjamin moving to Ulster County, and William, with parents, to Austin County, TX. If anyone connects with my family, or has anything more to add, please contact me. Jeff Gray
