RE: Gary Cooke's inquiry. Gary I too am a Cooke--proud of that "e" too. You might find a two vol. Cooke family history by Mrs. Jane F. Fiske "Thomas Cooke of Rhode Island" helpful. Its in most large genealogy libraries. MS Fiske traces the Cooke name in its various forms. Interesting enough our "alias" is "Butcher" which possibly was simplified from the Norman "Bouchere."
