Good morning, My Robert Carter COOK was b. 21 September 1809, in Yorkshire near the town of Marston, according to family recorded notes. Robert Carter COOK's parents were Henry J. COOK (b. 1767 we believe) and Prudence FOWLKS. Henry had a bachelor brother, John A. COOK. Robert's wife was Analine E. HAMLIN, b . 22 June 1822. We have no proof of her birthplace, but we know that Robert migrated to America about 1830, so that tells that she likely was b. in America. I have a cousin living in London who believes that her Hamlin line is linked to Hannibal HAMLIN, Lincoln's vice-president, but we have no proof of that. We do have a number of family letters giving us much information, including many dates and places. Our Cooks, dating from Robert Carter, came through Virginia, to Mississippi and Alabama, then to Illinois. Some of them then migrated on west to Kansas and other points west. It would be great to find some connection to other Cooks. Incidentally, two of my mother's cousins still live in the St. Louis area, one of whom is on the Illinois side. My mother's sister, Edna GRESHAM, 99, lives in Clearwater, FL, and her remaining brother, Phil COOK, 89, resides in Harlingen, TX. Thanks much for your response.
