Edna Cook YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Edna Garrett Cook, 76, formerly of 1308 College Park Ext., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Brian Center. Born Oct. 14, 1925 in Rosman, she was a daughter of Clarence Dilv Garrett and Bessie Crow Garrett. She was married to Dewey Washington Cook, who predeceased her in October 1988. She lived most of her life in Danville, Va., and was of the Baptist faith. She worked for Dan River Mills for 30 years and worked for Harris Teeter Bakery for 10 years. She had been a patient at Brian Center for 18 months. Survivors include two sons, Larry Cook of Blanch and Wayne Cook of Danville, Va.; two daughters, Reva Pruitt and Patsy Everett, both of Providence; one sister, Beatrice G. Ragle of Danville, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased, in addition to her husband and parents, by one sister, Helen G. Nester, and two brothers, J.B. Horton Garrett and Clarence Ralph Garrett. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Schoolfield Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Clark officiating. The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home and other times was at the residence of Patsy Everett, 4735 Walters Mill Road in Providence. Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
