Hello. I'm searching for the following 'Cooks', all born between about 1795 and 1815, some in Orange/Alamance Co, NC and the others in Bedford Co, TN: Rebecca Cook, b. Apr 21, 1798 (I have a pretty good 'handle' on her) Hamlin Cook, b. ca. 1804 in NC, d. likely near Bedford Co, TN (lived there in 1850) Sallie Cook Melissa Cook Sam Cook (probably Samuel P. Cook, b. ca. 1800-1805, and died Haywood Co, TN) Henry Cook Abram (Abraham) Cook John Cook, Jr. b. 1811 in NC, d. 1866 in Haywood Co, TN. These are all reported descendants of the John Cook of English descent, who was born Oct 14, 1771 in Sussex Co, VA and died sometime after 1830 in Bedford Co, TN, and his wife, Hannah Helton. Hi Grady, I have a Rebecca Cook, b. 1831-35 in either VA, NC, or TN. She got married in Gibson Co, TN, 1853, to Stephen Pearce/Pierce. Family legend holds that one or both of them was Cherokee. Strange thing is that I can't locate her on the 1850 census, so I'm not sure who her parents were. I think her sister's name was Lucinda, b. abt. 1834. I think she might have had a brother or nephew named W.S. Cook (dates unknown; he was the bondsman on a marriage license near the time Rebecca's daughter Mollie got married). I noticed you have a Rebecca Cook in TN, and I know that back then mothers sometimes liked to give their daughters their first names. Does any of this match your line?
