    1. Re: [COOK] Cooks in Mecklenberg Co VA
    2. Hi Mary-Gene, We have been in contact before. I have done a lot of research on this family and found that John Cook married Elizabeth "Betty" Ballard. Herbert Cook is my line. William I do not have the exact date of birth for but he was not born in 1969. He married to Fanny Rainey in 1803. Herbert was married twice, first to Penelope Taylor in 1802 they had no children she died very young and he married again to Sarah "Sally" Walker in 1805, they had 4 children I am descended from two of them. "Happy" Cook married John Taylor brother of Penelope mentioned above in 1802, no children. John Cook, Jr. married Sarah W. Pennington in 1812, they had 7 children. Elizabeth Cook another child born about 1781 married to Richard Ussery Lemay in 1804, they had 10 children.(source for Richard Lemay is Betty Butler.) Martha Cook married to Williamson Rainey in 1810 they had 12 children. I do my research at the Library of Va. and have been through many Mecklenburg County records through many years, marriages, deeds, wills, estate accounts, court orders, etc. and have verified a lot of this information and got a lot of it from the records. I do have more than I have posted here. 3. Hello again. Yes, I do remember you. The DOB for William Sr. should have been 1769 - it was a mental/typing error on my part. But I have in my notes that "Beth Bond" (that's you?) believes the birth to have been in 1780. I'm not sure that this William (md Frances Rainey) is a son of John Cook and Betty Ballard. If you have no other documentation other than from me, it may be a false conclusion. Did any of your Cooks go to TN? William did, but none of the others??
