Glad to hear of another Cook line other than the English. I also have a John Koch from Virginia to Illinois and his son Henry Cook. This also is a German or Dutch line and most of my info dates from the Illinois period. Henry was born VA but shows up in Illinois with his father who I know almost nothing about. They were in the Kaskaskia area and end up in Greene and Madison Co, IL. Henry fought in the War of 1812 there, married 5 times and had a big family. Most of the family moved to Texas when Henry was 75 yrs old. Henry's son, another John, is my ancestor. I have worked on the theory that they came through Kentucky before settling in Illinois. Sure would be nice to find more about this line. I have a great deal of information on the Cook-Simpson line who settled in Kentucky in the late 1700s that I'd be glad to share.
