2. Hi Mamie and all Cook cousins, It has been a while since I posted on here. Been having to get some things done around this house, so haven't done much on my genealogy for a while, but I have still read all of your posts on this list. I am hoping to get back into the genealogy research very soon, now that the winter has come, and the storms are here :-) I wanted to let Mamie know that my Cooks are mostly in NC, and you can find my genealogy research on my web site Cooke Connections Hope everyone here is doing well, and hope to get back to posting more in the future! 3. Well Margie, Good question. I'm afraid I am the blind leading the blind! I guess your first best bet would be to find a document with Warner D. Cook's parent's names. Since you know Warner's place of birth, try writing the town clerk to see if they have a record of his birth. I'm not familiar with how far back the Ohio records are recorded. Try the GenWeb for that county to see if they have the town clerk's address and go from there. Once you get to New York (which I believe you will, probably Warner's parents came from NY), let me know - maybe I can help. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? 3. Hi Margie, My Cooks, from New York have a connection with the Warners, also of New York. There are many connections actually. Here's an example: I have a James Barnard born Augut 8, 1803, who married Elizabeth Cook born November 19, 1803, on October 31, 1828. Of this marriage ten children were born. One of which was named, Chester Warner Barnard. Also Chester Warner born in 1791, married Relief Cook born Oct 15, 1800. Relief was the sister of Elizabeth Cook and Nancy F. Cook Barnard, wives respectively of James and Warren Barnard. Nancy F. Cook is my 3rd great grandmother. Hope you understood all of that! What I'm saying is maybe you fit into my family. Don't know exactly how, but maybe we could figure it out. Let me know what you think. 3. Morning, rcd. some queries about Cooks in Ohio. I do not know where in Ohio my A.W. was born. 1900 Leon Co. TX census showing my Dad James Franklin Cook, he stated his dad was born Ohio. After A.W died grdmo [Virgie] Mary Virginia rewed to a George Foster here in TX. I picked A.W. up in Gurden Ark.[Clark Co.] There was a Cook there named Micajah[I believe.] I visited Crocket Co. TX. some time ago and there was an Albert William that had lived there and around the same age as my Cook but, he was not mine. I assume they may have been related. I check'd the earlier census in Ark. but, I could not find him on an 1880 census even tho. he was there. I did send off for the wed. cert. but, they never have anything on them with the exception of names and dates but grdmo. Virgie's fa was a J.P. and he performed the ceremony and on the bottom of the cert. he wrote "my own true daughter." Martha

1. [COOK-L] James H. COOK
2. Hi everyone, thought I'd try again. My g grandfather James H. COOK is listed in the 1880 Bremer Co., Iowas US census as being 40 years old born in Ohio. He married Velora BRYANT dau. of Ansel D. BRYANT and Lydia VINING of Huron Co., Ohio. I've searched the 1850 Huron Co., US census until I can't hardly see any more. The only James H. COOK that I've come across is 13 years old instead of 10 years old. Here is the COOK family that has James H. COOK in it. If anyone knows this family and can help me either prove or disprove that this is my James H. COOK, I would greatly appreciate it. Huron Co., Ohio Greenfield Twp. 1850 Alfred COOK age 46 Wagon Master born in Conn. Amanda age 46 born in N.Y. William B. age 20 born in Ohio John D. age 18 Painter born in Ohio Charles L. age 16 Farmer born in Ohio George L. age 14 born in Ohio James H. age 13 born in Ohio Mary age 9 born in Ohio Frank age 6 born in Ohio Agusta age 4 born in Ohio A??? age 2 born in Ohio this is a female child, the name is hard to read. My g grandparents had sons named William B., Ernest C., Freddie A., Charles H. and James Clarence COOK. One daughter that I know of is Carrie E. This could be a coincidence that my g grandparents named one of their sons, William B., exactly the same as one of the sons of Alfred COOK in above census, and that they also had a son named Charles. I've been looking for information about this part of the family for years. My father never knew his grandparents because they died before he was born. The same thing happened to my as far as my grandfather James Clarence COOK was concerned. I never knew him because he died before I was born. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm grabbing at straws here. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Dee
