    1. [COOK-L] Jefferson Davis Cook
    2. SCHEELE, PATRICIA A
    3. Hi, Thought I'd give my brick wall another try. I am looking for information on Jefferson Davis Cook - son of Newton / Nuton Cook. Born 1860 in Calloway County, KY. His wife and 3 sons are on the census for 1900, Carlisle County, KY - Mary Emma Roach Cook is listed as a widow but Jefferson Davis Cook didn't die until 1916. I suspect that she died before him and maybe before the 1910 census because the 3 sons are living elsewhere. Jefferson Davis Cook and Mary Emma Roach married in Ballard County, KY. Jasper Marvin Cook, my grandfather, boarded with a Gardner in 1910, but his daughter told me that he lived with a West family after his parents died. Jasper married Cora Mayhue Long, daughter of Melvina Whitlow Long and Charles E. Long. Jasper worked on Cora's brother's farm - John Long. David Iley Cook married a Marva and was a farmer in the Graves County area. Jasper moved to Granite City, IL to work in the plants there. William served in France in WWI according to my great aunt Datha. He moved to St. Louis and became depressed after his wife died and committed suicide during the 1940's. I can't find a thing on William O. Cook. Billy Earl Cook of Kevil was able to provide me with some information on the Cook Family several years ago but really didn't know anything beyond "David" Iley Cook. Another clue could be in my great g'pa's name: Jasper Marvin Cook. There was a Jasper Newton Cook in the JP area in the 1860's but I can't put Jefferson Davis with him in the census records. Perhaps the death cert is incorrect. I hope someone can help solve the mystery! I have a photo of Jefferson Davis Cook and Mary Emma Roach on my web page .. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/4375/cook.html Pat Scheele, North Omaha Planning and Scheduling Office Omaha Public Power District, 7475 Pershing Drive, Omaha, Nebraska 68112 (402) 636-2689 e-mail: pscheele@oppd.com Thoughts to ponder: "What lies behind us and what lies in front of us, pales in significance to what lies within us."

    2. Does anyone have easy access to this census? I just learned that my ggrandmother Lily (dit. Eliza, Lillie) COOK's first marriage to Walter H. VANNORMAN took place in Ramsey co., MN on 21 Nov 1877. She was from Canada and I believe her groom was too. I would like to see if her parents or other sibs are in the 1880 census, as well as her husband and herself. Her parents were William David and Mary (McCrimmon) COOK. Thanks for any assistance. 1. [COOK-L] John Cook of NC
    2. Joy Simkins
    3. I hope I am getting this to the right address this time. I am researching John Cook born in NC. In 1850 he was in Madison County, AR. Bowen TWP 43 years of age, with wife Jane or June 35 yrs. born in TN. I have more info that says that Jane's maiden name was Williams, five of their children were born in TN, they must have left TN after 1841 their youngest child born in TN, Catherine is 9 years old in the 1850 census in M/C, AR. At this time they have four more children born in AR. I am not really sure of my connection to this family as there seems to be some confusion as to William "Bill" Cook's age I find in this census he was born 1849 and in other info that I have he was born in 1844. His grave marker says 1844 to 1899 and is located in the Upper Campground Cemetery in Madison County, AR. Can anyone help me with this. William "Bill" Cook was my gg-grandfather.
