have two separate COOK lines...... The first was in Laurens Co. SC prior to the American Revolution. My branch moved to Madison Co., AL in 1812, Marshall Co., AL in the 1830s, and to LA in the mid-1850s. The family lived in several North Louisiana parishes before settling in what is now LaSalle Parish. The second Cook family was, I believe, also in Laurens Co, SC prior to the AmRev. They moved to Greene/Sumter Co., AL prior to 1830. In the mid 1850s they moved to Richland/Frankin Parish, LA, and later to what is now LaSalle Parish. Have much info to share with those researching Cooks from these areas. Patricia Cook Taylor ioni@jump.net ======================= Patricia Taylor ioni@jump.net Austin, TX =======================

My COOK line is a SAMUEL COOK born about 1818, maybe in Alabama. I have been unable to find a record of his birth. Family legend has it that he came to Kentucky from Alabama with three daughters. After he reached Kentucky he married HARRIETT CONDER about 1846. No record has been found of his three daughters so no one knows is the story is true. He died in Boyle County, Kentucky on January 4, 1906. His children were Robert Dale, Elizabeth, Martha Agnes, John Payne, Malinda Frances and Samuel David, Jr. Any information on Samuel or his children would be very helpful. I do have information on Samuel David, Jr. and would be willing to share. Virgie Shannon Johnson

To whom it may concern: I would like to thank the person that sent me info about the Cooks and Greys. Somehow I lost your e-mail. My Cooks, Beechs and Greys were there in the 1800s. The names I am searching from Hitchin are George Walter Cook b.6 Feb 1870, Queen St. Hitchin d. 1957, Bay City, MI, USA. George's father was Joseph Charles Cook. George was married to Sarah Brown or Bounds. There were many family stories about Sarah that I would like to prove or disprove. Cook's were also married to Beech's and Grey's from Hitchin. Thanks again. J.D. Bush

We are still seeking information concerning John Daniel Cook I, born 1763 in Kingsbury, NY and died 1818 in Ohio. He married (1) Christianna Beck(or Heck) and (2) Anna Mary Bistle (or Bristle). We now understand that his parents may have been Daniel Cook and Susannah (Unkown). Daniel Cook's parents may have been Nicholas Cook and Joanna Rockwood. Nicholas Cook's father may have been (according to family legend) a man from Wales named Walter Gail who worked as a shipboard cook and ended up with the name Cook as a consequence. If anyone can shed further light on any of these people, we would be please to hear from them. Thanks, Stephen Cook
My Cook line is: Descendants of John Cook - Jasper Co., IL > Marion Co., IL Generation No. 1 1. JOHN COOK was born 1850, and died 1936. He married VOLENA CAROLINE FEAR, daughter of BENJAMIN FEAR and ANNA (PING?). Notes for JOHN COOK: I have John and Volena's marriage as being recorded on page 89 of Volume E in Jasper county, Illinois. I don't see the information from it in my notes so I'm not sure that Volume E is on the LDS microfilmed records I checked. There are lots of Fears in Jasper county records. Volume E is late enough to have the parents names and birthplaces listed but I must not have read it or it's not available because I transcribed all Cook information from the Jasper county records. I have John's middle initial as N. from the marriage records, but I have it as H. on the birth records. There is a birth record for a male Cook, child number l, born April 3, 1902 in Hunt City township, to John H. Cook and Volena C. Fear. John is listed as being 18 and born in Jasper county, and Volena is 21 and born in Jasper county. The doctor was H. A. Eidson, M.D. There is another birth for a female Cook, on August 2, 1903 in Hunt City Township, to John H. Cook and Volena C. Fear. John is 19 and born in Illinois, and Volena is 22 and born in Illinois. The doctor is H. A. Eidson. Children of JOHN COOK and VOLENA FEAR are: 2. i. ANNABELLE COOK, b. 1903, unknown; d. March 15, 1934, Marion Co., IL. ii. PEARL COOK. iii. GILBERT COOK. Generation No. 2 2. ANNABELLE COOK (JOHN) was born 1903 in unknown, and died March 15, 1934 in Marion Co., IL. She married ELMER LLOYD EDDINGS in unknown, son of WESLEY EDDINGS and MARY BELL. Notes for ANNABELLE COOK: Annabelle may have siblings: Pearl & Gilbert. Died as the result of gall bladder complications. As a child had scarlet fever which can effect the heart. When the gall bladder complications arose, her physician gave morphine for pain. It evidently created significant heart problems and eventual death. More About ELMER LLOYD EDDINGS: Died, May 5, 1972, Iuka Cem (Marion) IL Farmer Good Luck To All: Mark oldillini@aol.com
