Hi Cook/e cousins, Here is a web page I came across today. It is called The Political Graveyard. The URL is at the bottom of this email message. It lists all politicians and where they were born, held office and died. Here is the Cook list. They are listed by surnames. There is quite a bit of information on these pages, I found it very interesting to look at. Enjoy! Dear COOKIE's, I just found a site that is on COOK's of the Mayflower and from MA. http://genweb.net/~blackwell/blql/cookmayf.htm One note theres many email addresses on this site if you try to use one you will have to remove the nospam after @. The nospam was added so when computer searches found the addresses they are not able to send because of the nospam added. Looking to share information about Orrin P. COOK, born abt. 1819 in New York State. He lived in Sardinia, New York in 1840 and 1850 and was the father of Martha Viola Cook, born 28 Aug 1845, probably in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus County, NY. Martha married Nelson Walker Wade abt. 1865, presumably in NY State. Thanks for the help. Wally Wade

>From Helen Austin AustinART@aol.com Searching for village in Bavaria, Germany where George was born about 1832. It could have been in Pfalz (Palatinate) when it was dominated by Bavaria. George came to Pittsburgh, PA about 1848. He married in the USA before 1860. He worked as a carpenter in Natrona, PA in 1880 I have only one record to prove George COOK /KOCH was living in Natrona village above Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co, PA in 1880. Note: by researcher H. Austin 1995, Because family tradition has said that George married (second) a German woman, after the death of Charles mother; and because some Census show Charles mother as b PA, not Germany, It is possible that this Barbra Kallenbaugh Cook may be a step-mother to Charles. The record on this 1880 census showing his mother as b. Baden, could be an assumption of the census taker or testimony of the step-mother (assuming she is his mother at that time and not understanding that the record is supposed to show the birth mother of Charles). Whether some of the children in the household are by a first or second wife is not know, since no death record for a first wife has been found to this date====================== Children of George: George b 1860 may not have lived until 1900. Happy New Year to all...I wonder if I will find any COOK/COOKE cousins in '99 perhaps in England or Canada, and fill in the gaps proving the following ancestry. We believe my 4ggrandfather THOMAS COOKE was a British soldier who served in the "War of Rebellion" with the 34th British Regiment, which arrived Quebec in 1776. He settled in Kingston, Frontenac co., Ontario, Canada. His son, also THOMAS COOKE 11 (1781-1870) m. 1803 in Kingston, ALICE O'NEIL. They had at least 4 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom were baptized Anglican. My 3ggrandfather WILLIAM DAVID COOK b. 28th Apr 1815 m. 1845 in a Methodist service in Marysburgh Twnshp, Prince Edward co., Ontario, Canada, MARY MCCRIMMON b. ca 1826. Know of 5 children: MARGARET JOHNSON COOK b. 1846 Marysburgh; ALICE COOK b. ca 1850 bp. unknown; CHARLES COOK b. ca 1853 bp unknown; ELIZA aka (LILLIE, LILY, LEILLE) COOK (1856-1927) & ROSETTA "ETTA" (1859-1944) both in either Hamilton city, Wentworth or Hamilton Twnshp., Northumberland and both moved MN. My ggrandmother, who was recorded as LILY COOK m.1. 21 Nov 1877, St. Paul, Ramsey co., MN, WALTER H. VAN NORMAN then of Minneapolis, born ca 1853 Canada, prob. Hamilton, Wentworth co., Ontario or Hastings co. They lived Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN between 1877 and 1884. In the 1880 census for MN, Walter, age 26; Lily, age 23; and Rosetta, age 20, are listed in the same household. We think it is most likely that Walter died ca 1884/85, although a divorce cannot be ruled out. They had at least one daughter (1883-1902). Recorded as LILLIE VANNORMAN, she m. II. 1886 Warren Howard HAYES (1847-1899). They had 3 daughters, all of whom had families, and a son, who didn't. Regards, Barbara Blake-Krebs in KS barbkkfi@aol.com
COOK-ROBERTS-FRANKLIN Hello everyone, Thought I would try again: My most-wanted COOKs are the parents of Aaron Cook. The best info. I had, which was "hearsay," made me believe that they were a George Cook and a Sarah HAMILTON. However, researchers in Butler Co., OH found that Sarah Hamilton had married someone else just a few months before Aaron was born. So that makes them (George and Sarah) unlikely as Aaron's parents. Here is what I know about Aaron: Aaron COOK, b. 03 Oct 1812, Butler Co., OH; d. 22 Oct 1864, MO (Civil War skirmish); m. Lydia ROBERTS, 28 Nov 1828, Buchanan Co., MO. Children of Aaron and Lydia: Hiram Albert COOK, b. 14 Feb. 1844, Buchanan Co., MO; d. 08 Feb 1920, Jefferson Co., KS; m. Lucinda FRANKLIN, 09 Dec. 1867, IA (this is my great-grandfather--have more info. if interested). Sarah Jane COOK, b. 17 Dec 1848 Mary Elizabeth COOK, b. 12 Jun 1852, MO Giles Thomas COOK, b. 05 Oct 1854 George Lewis Craig COOK, b. 28 Dec 1856 Charles Franklin COOK, b. 15 Aug 1859 Aaron Perry COOK, b. 03 Aug 1861 William Arthur COOK, b. 20 Sep 1863; d. 25 Dec 1863 Lydia Rachel COOK, b. 19 Mar 1865 (Lydia Roberts Cook died in giving birth to Lydia Rachel--about 5 months after her husband, Aaron, died. So sad.) Does this sound like your family? I'll be glad to share what I have. Thanks for reading. Judy Judy Marshall Arnold - mailto:judyad@flash.net Judy's Place - http://www.flash.net/~judyad/

>From Helen Austin, Decatur, AL AustinART@aol.com This is my first posting to this list. I am searching for my COOK or KOCH or KUCH ancestry in BAVARIA before 1850 and in Allegheny Co, PA after 1850 to 1880. My ggrandfather was probably born in the Kingdom of Bavaria , but perhaps in what is now called PFALZ, about 1832. I believe his name was GEORGE COOK or GEORG KUCH/KOCH, but it may have been CHARLES GEORG or KARL GEORG. He came to PITTSBURGH, PA before 1850 and married about 1860 in PA. His first wife's name is not known. He may have been a carpenter or furniture maker One of his son's was CHARLES ALEXANDER COOK b 19 Jan 1864 in Tarentum. Allegheny Co, PA. He married 27 Jun 1888 in Tarentum Methodist-Episcopal church and died 6 May 1952 in Homewood, Pittsburgh, PA. He was buried beside his wife Mary Ellen TRENARY in Prospect Cemetery, Tarentum, PA. They were the parents of Charles Lawrence COOK 1900-1969. GEORGE COOK also had a daughter Annie b 2 Aug 1870 who married Charles APPLEBY and a daughter Caroline (called Carrie) who married a Mr. Roberts. On the census of 1880, 1900 and 1910, and 1920, both Charles Alexander and Carrie stated that their father (GEORGE OR CHARLES) was born in GERMANY and once they stated that he was born in BAVARIA. I found a declaration of intention to become a citizen of a GEORGE COOK in the court of West PA (Pittsburgh) who said he was from BAVARIA and born 1832. The original application which might have had more information was destroyed in a flood. I do not know what village or town in Germany that this COOK was from. Can you tell me of a migration of workers from BAVARIA about 1846-1850 to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.? Or a list of names of these emmigrants ? I do not know where else to search. I found no more records in PA to further identify this COOK.

I will start the new year with my brick wall COOK, William (Willie) . He was my grandfather Memphis Ray. This man may have been born in Graham, CO. NC. around 1895. Mother: Catherine Elizabeth Rogers Cook. Born 1870. Question about fathers name maybe William Henry Cook. His father work on the railroad. His mother had a small store for the RR workers. He had one sister Dora Bell Cook Ray. They were from the NC, GA, TN area. Murphy, NC -- Copper Hill, TN -- Blue Ridge, GA. He relocated to WV taking a new identity of William Memphis Ray. This was his brother-in-laws name that was married to his sister Dora Bell. This was around 1918 or 1919 because in 1920 he married my grandmother in WV with his new name. Some where someone knew of this man. My mom is getting old and would love to know her fathers true identify. We grandchildren would also like to know of our own ancestors. If anyone has any information on this line of Cooks please E-mail me. Thank you for your time. Jerry Nan E-mail JRNan1@aol.com
