Here is one of three Cook(e) mysteries I'm working on: Thomas Cooke who married Rebecca Wescott 1607 and found in Boston 1635. Anyone have any info on this line or marriage?? I am trying to find ancestry of a John Cooke of Warwick RI died 1656 and in a Warwick land record John refers to Stukely Wescott as "my uncle". On a web page I found the Thomas/Rebecca marriage and think this might fit as possible parents. Thanks! Laurie

Ellie, It's nice to have you back! Is it okay if I drink my Diet Coke with you instead of Coffee? Just never developed a taste for it! I wanted to tell you that as an elementary school teacher, I judge my management success on how well my class acts when I am gone, and they have a substitute. I can tell you that your list was very well behaved and carried on stimulating and friendly discussions in your absence. Congratulations! Brenda Humphrey Riverside, CA Website: http://www.angelfire.com/pq/cougaroots/Cook.html Looking for info re: Alfred Loren COOK (OH,IN) or his father Randolph Enos COOK (NY,OH,NE,IN), or his father Enos COOK (NY), or his father William COOK (Germany?, CT, NY)
I've been subbed for a couple of weeks, but haven't posted anything as yet. My mother (Betty Cook Rudd)worked on our genealogy in the '40s and '50s. I inherited it when she died 23 years ago, but I've not had the time to work on cleaning things up until now. My uncle, Max Cook (her brother), worked on it in the '70s and '80s after he retired. He wrote to me that my mother had the 1st 3 generations of our immigrant ancestor wrong. I'd like to clarify this. The first ancestor upon whom they agreed is: Jared Cook, b. 4/20/1730, m. Ruth Hutchinson 12/21/1753 My uncle wrote our immigrant ancestor was: Richard Cook of Leicester, England, who came to the colonies on the ship Jonathan, landing in Charleston, in 1639. Uncle Max found a record of property registered to Richard in Preston, CT, in 1683. Richard had a son, Obed (Obediah?), born 2/1/1681 Obed had a son, Richard, b 8/10/1705, m. Mary ??? and they were the parents of Jared who married Ruth...and the rest of my line down to me is intact. Jared and Ruth had a son, Elijah, who married Charity Lockwood. My Lockwood line goes back to Robert Lockwood, who was on the flagship Arbella with John Winthrop (Winthrop's Fleet) in 1630. Anyone on this list have information about Richard, Obed(iah), and Richard Cook? Ellen Rudd in Indianapolis

Surnames: Cooks and Fleming I'm looking for anyone one with any knowledge of George Washington Cook and wife Mary C. Fleming Cook being in the Gainsville, Florida area during the 1860-80's. Mary's mother possibly lived with them. Her name was Eliza (?) Fleming. They all three were born in South Carolina. George was in Co. B, Second Florida Reg. during the Civil War. He was release from the military in May 1865 @ Waldo, Florida. George filed for a Confederate Pension in Texas, 1914. His two witness were Wilson P. Tompkins of Lochloosa, Florida and George W. Sparkman of Tampa, Florida. The Cooks had 8 or more children while in that area. In 1884, they moved on to Texas. I know this is not short, but I am so desporate to find someone that is related or kin. Please get in touch with me. P.S. Ellie, I love to have Sunday morning coffee with you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- -----Original Message----- From: Stephens61@aol.com <Stephens61@aol.com> To: COOK-L@rootsweb.com <COOK-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, February 14, 1999 6:48 AM Subject: [COOK-L] ANNOUNCEMENTS: Sunday Morning Coffee > > ) > .-.,--^--. _ Good Morning Cook Cousins > \\| `---' |// Come on in the coffee pot's on > \| / > _\___/_ > > > > Good Morning Family, > > A big welcome to our new members. Welcome back, Ellie. I missed my Sunday Morning Coffee and am glad to have it back again. I hope I am doing this right. It is a good idea to keep to these four subjects, and this would fall under chat I hope. Hope everyone has a nice Valentines Day. Jere
