Does anyone come off of this Asa Cooke (b 6-12-1720 Kingston Ma) and married to Susannah (Lusannah) Bryant? Asa died bef 4-1777 in Mendham, Morris Co., NJ...He was the brother of Jacob Cooke and Uncle to Jemima. It's said children of Asa and Susannah are: Lucy Cooke (b1753) Solomon Cooke and Stephen Cooke. I've not verified any of these births. My true objective is to find the parents of Ziba Cook (b5-8-1760). Ziba was married to Jemima Cooke, the daughter of Jacob Cooke and Phebe Lindley.. they had 8 children and Ziba died in Fredrickstown, Oh., Knox Co. 1823. Ziba's first child was named Solomon (b2-4-1788) so we wonder if he named him after his father - Solomon (son of Asa). It's always been said Ziba was a cousin to Jemima. Thanks for any leads... Hi Family... If any of you can help Daniel, please write to him at the address below. I'm just passing this along to you. Thanks...Ellie << Subj: Please help by announcing this message. Date: 99-02-21 17:06:08 EST From: danielddlf@hotmail.com (Daniel David Lewis Frommherz) To: Stephens61@aol.com List members, I have been looking high and low for the surname of the wife to Jonathan King of Salem and Sutton Massachusetts. He died in Sutton in 1717 leaving a wife named Sarah and seven minor children. Jonathan, William and John are the sons. Sarah, Abigail, Lydia and Ruth are the daughters. You folks have a Sarah Cooke daughter of Isaack and Elizabeth (Buxstone) Cooke. Isaack died in 1692 leaving a will naming his daughter Sarah as living which meant a minor but she got no money. Through discovery of property lines I found that the Isaack Cooke family had property lines that were registered as adjoining in Salem. Their neighbors were John and Elizabeth (Goldthwaite) King. William Jonathan's older brother married Hannah Cook the older sister to Sarah and they also had two Isaack's who died young a Henry and a Lydia. Further discovery tells me that Henry married in 1722 but was made the guardian of the King children and of Sarah. Custom says that he would have married Sarah had she not been his sister. The Kings named children after the Cook and the King relatives. Lydia was not a King name as it was in the Cook family. I cannot find any further records of a marriage or a death to Sarah Cook after the record probated in 1692. It is as if she crawled under a rock. Please lets all stick our ears to the pavement so to speak so that I can feel comfortable in claiming, as others have already done, the pride in being a Cook. Sarah would have been born around 1680. The Goldthwaite Genealogy published in 1895 says that our Sarah is probably Cooke but offers no source material as proof. Daniel David Lewis (myself)11, Arthur Francis (father)10, Lucy Adelia King (paternal grandmother)9, Abraham Lincoln (her father)8, Solomon (his father)7, Nahum Amos (his father)6, Amos Nahum (his father)5, William (his father and son of Sarah)4, Jonathan (his father and husband of Sarah)3, John (his father)2, William Kinge of Salem (1). I hit a BINGO this week. Thanks to this wonderful list. I have looked for my grandfather for almost two years with nothing. I had the last name Cook and a medal he carried with him from the TN National Guard. He had two identities. He married my grandmother in WV with his new identity. Someone on this list told me to look in the TN Archival in Nashville. It took about six months but a great BIG bingo. Thank you, Thank you, His name is William Cook (I now know this for a fact) He was born at Topton, NC Cherokee, CO. His mother was Elizabeth Rogers Cook. I still need father. May be Henry Cook he was not listed. William Cook lived at Copper Hill, TN in 1916 when he enlisted. He came to WV in 1919 with a new identity. He may have left a wife behind in the Copper Hill, TN, NC area. If you have any information on this family I sure would appreciate hearing from you. Again I would like to say THANK YOU. God bless you for your help. Jerry Nan JRNan1@aol.com
( ) .-.,--^--. _ Good Morning Cook Cousins \\| `---' |// Come on in the coffee pot's on \| / _\___/_ Good Morning Family, A big welcome to our new members. Before long you will know everyone and feel comfortable. We are a unique group of people. We cry together and we laugh together, as we are truly one big happy family. The best part about us is the way we help each other. If you are new to the Internet, or new to genealogy, please do ask questions. Someone in this group has an answer to help you. We are all eager to see who your Cook's were so when you are ready, do post them. I have been working with some of our members on the State Project this week. We adopted the state of Oklahoma! We are putting our heads together to come up with an excellent page for members who are searching in this State for Cooks. The possibilities are limitless as to what we can do to make it easier to search for lost Cook's. We aren't ready yet to show the page off as we are in the beginning stages of putting it all together. I chose the state of Oklahoma because this is the State I live in and my Cook's came here in 1915. I am amazed at the information I have found that I didn't know existed! Our list has the reputation of being a sharing group and more and more I see why. :) If you have time on your hands and want to do something to help others, this is the place to start. You can help others and at the same time help yourself find family. This is an easy project that anyone can do no matter what age you are or how much you know about genealogy. In fact this would be an excellent way for beginners to find out just what is available in the state they are working in. This is a fun project and it will give you an opportunity to express yourself in your God given talents you didn't know you had :) Maybe you haven't been given the chance in life to see just what you can do. E-mail me and I will explain the project to you. Don't forget to send your queries in this week! New members are here and you sure want them to see your names. Think positive...we will find our lost Cook's :) We just don't know when.... Need to make your day happy? I found a good site you might want to go see... The Daily Motivator If you haven't been to our Cook Cooke Koch web page, do take a look. Rick Norwood rtfact@hughes.net Hello Cooks I am looking for any information on my GGF Karl COOK. I think he was born in New England about 1855-1865-possibly in MA NH or VT. He married Ville (or Villa) BRYANT and had at least 6 children: Mildred, Lena, Zelda, Hollis, Forest and Maranda (my GM, 1884-1959). Maranda married Edgar A. NORWOOD of Rockport & Medford MA. I know that at about the turn of the century Maranda lived in Proctorville VT. Any further clue would be deeply appreciated! I'm at a dead end. Thanks-Rick

I keep hoping that someone has a COOK family who came from Germany, perhaps Bavaria and immigrated to Pittsburgh, PA between 1845-1859. My Charles Alexander Cook was b 1864 in Allegheny Co, PA, probably the industrial villages of Tarentum or Natrona in the Allegheny Valley. His father (I think) was George COOK b 1832 Bavaria, Germany who is on the 1880 census of Natrona with a wife, Barbra KALLENBACH (second wife). Siblings are Annie (ROBERST) and Carrie (APPLEBY, and perhaps a GEORGE COOK b 1860 PA and an Amelia. Wish I could ring some bells or get some tips for finding these elusive COOKs. I am Billy Dean Cook, great great grandson of GILBERT B. COOK who was born in PA (?) on 6/6/1846 but moved to Edgar County, IL where he married Nancy Kirby on January 14, 1869. He was a Civil War veteran and injured his leg in the War. I don't know which Regiment he served with. Gilbert and Nancy later moved to Jasper County, IL and lived in Hunt City. They had five children; Charles Gilbert, Jesse, Cora, Anne, Maggie. Other verbal sources suggest there may have been a Joe as well. Other family stories suggest that Gilbert's parents came from North Carolina (or the Carolina's). My source for the PA birthplace is a Jasper County Historical Society book, but I don't have the original source. Gilbert died in Jasper County and is buried in Hunt City, but i don't have the date. I would appreciate any information on Gilbert, known as Bert. I have considerably complete information on the descents of Charles Gilbert, his son. Thanks. Bill Cook

Hello fellow Cooks, I am looking for the Cooks of Barry County, Michigan ca 1850. Edwin and Edgar were most likely twins, and Lowrie (nickname?) Cook were Mandana Cook Wallace (1829-Sep 1, 1855) brothers. She probably has more siblings but they are all I know at the moment. My great, great grandmother Mandana Cook married my great, great grandfather George A. Wallace on Jan 1, 1846 either in Barry or Calhoun County Michigan. They had two children William and Lemoron Wallace (Aug 8, 1847-Sep 10, 1921). William must have died at an early age. George Wallace died in Nev. while going out to California during the gold rush and Mandana married Albert G. Dewey (Nov 25, 1816-Dec 30, 1897). I do not know if they had any children or why Mandana died. Thank you for any help. Mike
