    3. Hi Wayne, The nature of the Happy99.exe worm makes it highly unlikely that Barbara Bartels is even aware that she is spreading this virus. Once it is on someone's system, it sends out e-mail with it attached, but it is invisible to the person sending the e-mail. Please give Ms. Bartels the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure she will be surprised and horrified to find out that she has been passing on this virus. Michele Chavez recipient of happy99.exe many times over (fortunately never opened the darn thing!)

Please be forgiving! My name is Carolyn Moses Camidge and I am "attempting" to research my ancestry - beginning primarily with my grandfather, Gaither A. Moses. From what I am told, he was very close with Bess and Bynum Cook. I know very little - only that: * he was born around 1890 (possibly in NC, perhaps Burke County - or he may have been born in upstate South Carolina or even in Tennessee - I just don't know!) * he was born to Dave and Frances Helmes Mosses (as listed on Gaither's marriage certificate; * he married my grandmother, Mary Lee Moses on Nov. 12, 1935 in Lincoln County, Lincolnton, NC; * he lived in Lincolnton, NC (High Shoals/Long Shoals area) for awhile prior to 1935 and just after 1935); HERE IS WHERE WE LOSE HIM - * Shortly after he married grandmother, one of my uncles who didn't like Gaither pretty much ran him off. He is rumored to have gone to Bessemer City, NC (Gaston County) to live and eventually remarried, after having sent for my grandmother - but she wouldn't leave her family to go with him. Therefore, my father grew up NEVER knowing his father and does not know where his own father is buried! Sad, eh! * I have pounded the pavement - searched various register of deeds and libraries, census records (although they really can't help me with Gaither because they stop in 1920 and I know where he was in 1935 - I need to know where he last resided AFTER 1935 and where he died and is buried. * The only concrete evidence I have found is his marriage certificate to grandmother in 1935 (which is how I found out my grandparents' names, Dave Mosses and Francis Helmes Mosses) and a death certificate for (must be) his sister, Moice J. Mosses, she died in Gastonia, 3/13/1917 of Bright's disease; died in Gaston County, buried somewhere in Bessemer City, NC. * the last facts that I know about Gaither is that he once lived for awhile somewhere in Tennessee, he had Moses relatives in upstate SC (one, possibly a sister, owned a farm), that he had two other sisters, Ruth and Lola and was close with Bess Cook - possibly Bynum Cook - the Cook family. I apologize for the length of this e-mail but am DESPERATE to find Gaither's grave before my father, James William Moses, passes away. It means so much to our entire family - if anyone can help, please, please respond to Carolyn at email: Cmcamidge@aol.com. Thank you all! Carolyn --------------51273ADE3FB6--

    3. Hi Cousins, A visit to the Omaha Library netted me a photocopy of the pages on the Cook 's who are listed in the Compiliation of the War of Rebellion. Not all libraries have this index but many big libraries have the 124 or so volumes of Civil war information. I think this is the important stuff for the library. CALL NUMBER: E464 .U62 AUTHOR: United States. War dept. TITLE: Disposition of official records of the Union and Confederate armies. PUBLISHED: [Washington, Govt. print. off., 1921] DESCRIPTION: 3 p. 25 cm. SUBJECT: United States. War dept. The war of the rebellion; a compilation of official records of the Union and Confederate armies. LCCN NUMBER: 21-12622 Pat I can send via an attachment (JPG) .. a copy of that page - it lists the name, series and volume # - then I believe that you have to find the book and look at that index to find the document. I'm not sure but there is a CD that has at least some of those records on it - I'm sorry that I didn't write down the name of the company who published the CD .. I'm not an expert with these volumes - nor can I easily get to the library for look ups - but can offer to share this index page with who ever wants it. Pat

    3. Hey Cook Cousins, I've been lurking for a few weeks in hopes that maybe someone would mention a COOK I could relate to! No such luck. So time to spread my family around a little (a little, only because I know so little). Nathaniel COOK born in VT, ca 1810-25; married: Jerima Sprague, also born VT son: Alvin Joseph COOK born March 12, 1844 in VT married: Ellen McELROY in Waukasha WI abt 1870 the following children were born: Rose E. COOK, b. 10/1876, in WI Alvin W. COOK, b. 3/1874, in WI and then the family moved to Ionia Co. MI where Rose & Alvin married and continued the family tradition of having more children! I would like to learn more about the elder Cooks (Nathaniel & Jerima) as well as any additional information that anyone may and have and be willing to share. I thank you for taking the time to read this -- and look forward to "many, many" replies :) Diane Decker-Warneke Michigan mailto:warneke@wingsisp.com
