A 78yo Amey Cook is on the 1880 census in Camden County New Jersey. Can anyone make a connection to her or Charles Risley Cook b. 1829? Joe Hiers in NJ
Hi, I am looking for anymore info on David Cook, he was born in Lincoln NC in 1810 and died in Morgan IN in 1844. He was married to Emilia Goodwin. I found him in the 1840 census in IN, and it had them listed as having 6 children. I only know one of the childrens name, Peter J. Cook. I'm trying to find out the names of the rest of the children, why he was in Indiana, because nobody else in the family is from there, and why he died so young. I also found him on a roster in 1838 from NC, he was part of the Indian removal. Which I found odd because I've been told that there is Indian in our line. Anyways, if anyone has any more info, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Tandi

Dear Al White, Linda Ray, Tricia Hopper, and the Cook-web, I was reviewing some bible records: Green Cook, born Dec. 14th 1748 (Married Rhoda Harker). http://members.aol.com/CookCooke/cookbiblerecords.html Green Cook is a pretty unique name and Raleigh Hiram (or Horton) Cook b. 1818 (David Cooks son) had a brother named Green Cook. Since almost all large families had grandchildren that carried their grandfather's names back then, the Dec. 14, 1748 birthday would fit to be David Cook's (b. 1782)father (David was born ~34 years after the Green Cook in this bible record). Green Cook had a son born in 1782 named Silas Cook. Is it possible that they had three names and did not include the full name in the bible? The grandfather that would be David's ws also named Silas, which would be the bible-name used. A Silas David Cook would put things together and give us two to three more Cook generations, to Sept 21, 1725 When Joseph Cook was born (about 2/3 of the way from Plymouth Rock to the Declaration of independence)and his suspected father. Joseph Cook's father is probably Silas Cook of Sherewsbury mentioned also. That would take it back to his birth probably at the end of the 1600's. Together, we should all be able to research these and see if it is the right way. Al, I know you said you had something on another David Cook child. Does anyone have anything that fits here? John Davis (Juanita Cook's son - she lives in Weatherford, Texas) [email protected] Colorado Springs ----------------------------- Cook Records The following two records of the Cook family are taken from a manuscript book formerly belonging to Sarah Earl, and now in the possession of Mrs. Earl Reigner. They were evidently copied from a family Bible the location of which is at present unknown. Joseph Cook, born Sept. 21th 1725. Sarah Gree, born Nov. 24th 1728 Issue: Green Cook, born Dec. 14th 1748 (Married Rhoda Harker). Silas Cook, born April 8th 1751. Joseph Cook, born May 18th 1754. Rebecca Cook, born Dec. 21st 1756. James Cook, born May 1st 1759. Ebenezer Cook, born Dec. 3rd 1761. William Cook, born April 15th, 1764. Stephen Cook, born July 3rd 1766. Jasper Cook, born Aug. 19th 1768. Darius Cook, born Aug. 3rd 1773. Note: Joseph Cook and Sarah Green were married by license dated April 29, 1748 (NJA: XXII;73). His will dated Nov. 26, 1773, prob. June 27, 1774, names wife Sarah, and all of the above children except Jasper, who probably died young (NJA: IIIIV; 105). Sarah Green was the daughter of Henry and Rebecca Green of Shrewsbury. >From the similarity in the names of his children, Joseph Cook, above, might have been the posthumous child of Silas Cook of Shrewsbury Township, Monmouth Co., whose will dated June 5, 1725, names wife Sarah, and sone Stephen, Ebenezer, Jasper, William and Silas, and an expected child (NJA: XXIII; 106) Cook Records Green Cook, born December 17th 1748. Rhoda Harker, born April 13th 1756, at Mount Holly, N. J. Issue: Sarah, born Aug. 29th 1776, died Sept 8th 1855, at Harmar, OH. Married Oct. 10th 1799 to Gilberthorpe Earl. Britton Cook, born Sept. 13th 1778. Silas Cook, born March 9th 1782. Rebecca Cook, born Aug. 27th 1785. Married Abel Stafford. (My Cook) Deborah Cook, born Jan. 9th 1788. Jacob Cook, born May 15th 1791. James Cook, born Aug. 10th 1794. Jemima Cook, born Dec. 2nd 1796. Joseph Cook, born March 6th 1800. Married Elizabeth Applegate of Dover Township, Monmouth Co., on Dec. 18th, 1825. Note: Green Cook, above, was son of Joseph and Sarah (Green) Cook of the previous record.

This is NOT my COOK line; posted FYI; please do not contact me for further information! Thanks! From: History of Eastland Co., TX, by Mrs. G. Langston; pub. by A. D. Aldridge & Co., Stationers, Printers & Book Binders, 1904, Dallas, TX, p. 77: Oscar Cook came to county 1872, and in the organization he held the election at Jewell. He writes, "I had to take the ballot to Bill McGough's (12 mi.) and then Bill carried it to Palo Pinto to be counted. I was on the 1st Grand Jury of the 1st Court -- which was held at Schmick School House. Then we held Court on the Colony Fork at Barny Bartholomew's and next at Eastland. It took nearly all of us boys to hold Court. "I had to go to Comanche (30 mi.) for blacksmithing and for bread. Thomas Mansker, Mr. Justis, Simp Evans, Will Thanish, Thomas Marsh, Calvin Wadkins, and myself were all who lived on the Sabanno then. Our nearest neighbors were 6 and 12 mi. The Indians took our horses from us twice before we had neighbors enough to keep them away. A fellow felt skittish when out cutting poles to fence with, plowing, or going to mill. But after the county was organized it settled up rapidly." End of document. Hope this helps someone. Be well & God bless, Kate Beaugrand Cook Minnesota [email protected] or [email protected]

Hello everyone - I might have found good old GREAT GREAT Gpa Jefferson Davis Cook: 1910 KY Jeff D Cook Enumeration District: 0013 Color: W Age: 48 Birth Place: Kentucky Visit: NR00 County: Christian Relation: INMA Relatives: NR Edward C Petton (W) His wife, Mary Emma Roach Cook is listed in West Bardwell, Carlisle County, KY in 1900 with 3 sons, Ollie (David Iley), Willie, and Jasper as a widow. In 1910, I can not find GG Gma Mary Emma Roach Cook but I understand that both of my great grandfather Jasper Marvin Cook's parents died when he was "young". Jefferson Davis Cook died in 1916. He is buried at Bethleham Cemetery in Wickliffe, Ballard County, KY. According to my great aunt Betty, the only thing she knew about Jefferson was that they never knew where he would be - he was described to me as a "no good" kind of guy. <g> I'm still looking for a photo of David Iley Cook and William O. I would appreciate whatever information you have. > > Earl, I have answered so many E-mails in the past week I forgot if I answered yours. All I can tell you about Samuel Cook was that he was Bn. in Rockbridge Co. Virginia in 1795. He would have been 10 years old in 1805 in North Carolina. He came to Indiana in 1816 and married for the first time in 1818 He lived near Lanesville, Harrison Co. Indiana until 1835 when he moved to Floyd Co. Indiana that was formed in 1819. His first wife died in 1844 and is buried in the family Cemetery at New Albany, Floyd Co. Indiana. Samuel remarried and had a total by both wives of 13 Children He died in 1874. He also according to the Newspaper and his Tombstone I found, is buried in the Family Burial Site (About 5-7 possible stones). I don't know the names of his parents I have not researched him. I hoped I could find someone who was missing an Ancestor and I might be able to help I know someone is missing a Samuel Cook, Born in Va. 1n 1795 I would have thought someone would have been looking for him. I am repairing his stone, I'll take good care of him until I find someone. .I have his Obituary. It tells of his 13 children. At that time 2 daughters lived in Kentucky (Didn't Give married names) and had a son living in Canada. The rest are probably in the Death or Marriage records here in Floyd Co. Indiana. He had Only 3 Survivors. Jack E. Briles Sr. Floyd Co. INPCRP Coordinator PO Box 444 New Albany, In. 47151-0444 (812) 282-6585

Social Security This is worth reading, short and to the point! Our Senators/Congressmen do not pay into Social Security, and, therefore they do not collect from it. Social Security benefits were not suitable for them. They felt they should have a special plan. Many years ago they voted in their benefit plan. In more recent years, no congress person has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan. For all practical purposes, their plan works like this: When they retire no matter how long they have been in office, they continue to draw their same pay until they die, except it may be increased from time to time by the cost-of-living adjustments. For example, former Senator Bill Bradley (New Jersey) and his wife may be expected to draw $7,900,000.00 over an average life span, with Mrs. Bradley drawing $275,000.00 during the last year of her life. Their cost for this excellent plan is "0," nada, zilch. This little perk they voted in for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. Our tax dollars at work! Social Security, which you and I pay into every payday for our own retirement, with an equal amount matched by our employer, we can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month. Or, we would have to collect our benefits for 68 years and 1 month to equal the Bradley's benefits. Imagine for a moment that you could structure a retirement plan so desirable, a retirement plan that worked so well, that Railroad Employees, Postal Workers, and others who were not in the plan would clamor to be included. This is how good Social Security could be, if only one small change was made. That change would be to jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan out from under the Senators/Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us. Watch how fast they fix it!!! If enough people receive this maybe a seed will be planted, and maybe good changes will evolve. Don't forget, our girl, Hillary Rodham Clinton, thanks to the infinite wisdom of New York State voters, now comes under this Congressional Retirement Plan. Talking about the Clinton's, it's common knowledge that, in order for her to establish NYS residency, they purchased a million + house in upscale Chappaqua, NY. Makes sense. Now, they are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense. Here is where it becomes interesting. A residency had to be built in order to house the Secret Service agents. The Clinton's now charge the Secret Service rent for the use of said residence and that rent is just about equal to their mortgage payment, meaning that we, the tax payers, are paying the Clinton's mortgage and it's all perfectly legal. You gotta luv it. Is Everybody Happy????????? How many people can YOU send this to? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
