Hi everyone, I'm new to the list. :) I'm looking for info on Arthur James Cook and relatives of him. This is what I know about Arthur: Birth: 4th July 1883 in Ystrad, Glamorgan, Wales, UK. Death: 10th September 1944 in Trealaw, Wales, UK. He MAY have lived in Herefordshire at some point. Father: William Cook. Mother: someone Stallard. Wife: Sarah Gertrude Thornley (married 11th September 1911). Brothers: Ernie and David. Sons: Glyn Thornley (my Grandad!) and Lesley Arthur. He moved to London around 1936. I actually seem to have quite a lot more information about him too, but that's enough if you're aware of who he is. :) I want to know more about his Father and further back anyway, or find any other relatives of Arthur. All I know about his Father is that he's name was William and he worked as a railway platelayer in Treorchy, Wales, UK. I particularly want to trace the history back further past William Cook. I have found an Arthur James Cook who was a miner's leader and seemed quite famous at the time! Unfortunately the dates don't quite soon to match, although he was born in the same year and worked in the same area too! It seem a coinsidence but the dates just don't match. I wonder if they were somehow related though? Any leads on this would be very much appreciated. Many thanks, Geoff.

I sent this the other day but I failed to upload my new page with the info linked on it, sorry about that, the info is now up! I have found that in 1880 my Cook ancestors were in CLAY, Co., NC. not in Union Co., GA as previously believed. They moved from Union Co. to Clay Co., NC sometime between 1870 and 1880 as they show in the census in 1880 in the latter area. I have posted the info on my Henry Cook descendants site. Bill Cook
Hello. My name is Linda. I would love to hear from anyone researching the following: My GGGrandfather was: CHARLES COOKE b. abt. 1834 in "Hereford" UK. I have not as yet been able to find a baptism record. Charles married Emma MILLER from Tamworth, Staffs. Again, I have not been able to trace a marriage certificate (only been looking for 10 years!) but I believe the marriage would have taken place between 1874 and 1880 but I do not know where. On the 1881 census Charles and Emma are living in Cuckoo Rd, ASTON, Warks with my GGrandfather CHARLES FREDERICK COOKE b. 12 December 1880. On this census Charles is described as a house painter. By the 1891 census they have moved a few houses down the road, still on Cuckoo St but at number 1, where Emma is running a shop. Charles Frederick married Ellen WALTON on 17 Feb 1907 at St. Clements Church, Nechells, Warks. By this time he has dropped the "e" on the end of Cooke. Charles and Ellen's children included my Grandfather CHARLES HENRY COOK b. 5 May 1908. Good hunting to all. Linda ......We are not always what we seem to be..........
